After 3 years & I presumed with heavy usage, you had already spent RM$700/= & now the leather is breaking up & this adds up too.

I am just curious what is the life span?....next the bearings may be worn out or the motor may kaput.

    Just maybe beyond economical repair.

    Please dun get mad

I suppose most shops that offer living room set upholstery should be able to fix that. Then again, their cost[which aint cheap] plus lorry transport up/down....you might wanna consider that cost as trade-in for a new one .....you could also flash your CC for a new one and write it off as an expense.....like for 'relieve your tired muscles' after a hard day's work

Failing which, just thrown some nice soft towels over it and use till it falls apart

During the Shanghai Expo back in 2010.... the Tourism Minister (back then) Ng Yen Yen made an official visit to the Malaysian Pavillion before the official opening by then Chinese President HE Mr Hu Jintao.... suddenly among all the "Made in Malaysia" products she came across the display booth OGAWA displayed in lighted neon light....

"What is a Japanese brand doing in the Malaysian Pavillion?" she shouted at the top of her Bentong Ah Soh voice....

And all the officials and workers and contractors fell silent.... and then someone whispered to her.... "pssst Dato Yen Yen, Ogawa is made in Balakong lah...."

I guess the Japanese name can be very misleading. Always read the fine print. Then all should be good...I think.

Dervish, I'm happy you are out to 'play' again in your once favourite playground. Stay longer this time, bud.
