After repeatedly paying expensive meals for so so food, it motivates me to do some justice to my money - do as bslee always promote - cook at home. It is expensive but at least I get quality food.

Talk about bread, a bakery called Lavender opens a outlet in Setia City Mall, shah alam.

Hahaha! Not really lah! Actually, the first few spoon of DTF's fried rice taste good, but after that the oily and seasoning taste dominate the fried rice. We are more use to natural/original taste.

If I had some enthusiasm (since my enthusiasm can drift due to will to do or not) is to make own sushi. Am sure its no big deal to make it if all the right ingredients are acquired. Dunno how to make? WATCH YOUTUBE!
From some observation around the supermarkets, (other than some promos here n there) Japanese imported ingredients are getting scarce around here, and am cocksure its not any cheaper since our currency is now heading rupiah road.
I think the enthusiasm or appeal for Japanese food ingredients and stuff have waned in Malaysia. Even Pasta Zanmai restaurant who used to have a little corner retailing all sorts of imports are no more to be seen. But I know there's local Japanese foodstuff importers around here..but dunno what the heck they doing..tadak business kah?

The little corner is still ongoing at their Sunway Pyramid and Empire outlets but not in Main Place - don't know why!

Empire? Wife told me, don't have? (just over the weekend) I've to see and check again for myself..don't trust her judgement sometimes..
The last "big" promo was 3 months ago at Subang Parade just outside Parkson entrance and McD. I bought a bottle of Sesame Dressing with almonds, excellent stuff that goes with my fresh and simple raw coral and lettuce salad.
I can make this basic dressing sauce, just that I can't easily find Dashi-No-Moto or Bonito fish soup base concentrate. The alternative is fish sauce but not the same taste. This bottled dressing is DAMN EXPENSIVE!.. Kewpie is now made locally and just as expensive..RM9 something a pop!
What the heck is so difficult?..told you all watch youtube..

Mayonnaise, Sesame seeds (buy raw and roast 30sen worth) Sesame oil, vinegar, bonito fish sauce, mirin, sugar to taste..blardi simple!..sort of..
I love this salad that goes with any simple rice meal or western dish.. no need to be on par with Michelin star chefs.. satisfactory taste will do! and MUCH CHEAPER and LOW COST!

bslee - If you take the BRT to Sunway Pyramid you will not miss the little corner. You will walk past it on your right on your way in from the walkway linking Sunway Lagoon station. Sushi Zanmai is further in on your right and Rakuzen is on your left.

Thank you very much for the pointer..I've been to that spot long ago.. You know lah..I don't go to these places often due to some poverty circumstances and silly prices of products.
I always feel I can afford to buy ingredients to cook but NOT at restaurant price. I'll settle for less cost anytime, ultimate satisfaction of some commercial product is secondary as this country have reduced purchasing power as time goes on.
As reminded again, Your RM10 is near meaningless now if eating out at some restaurant in some complex.

In my case, the deteriorating quality of food served outside had me and my family decided to cook at home instead.
As one grows older, one has to eat healthier. So, add more vegetables into the mix

Strong urge to eat great CCF I used to go at Taman Megah.. dunno where the lady does business now..since the place was renovated couple of years back..
Anyone know where to buy good raw CCF, I want to make my own...the sauce is the easy part, buying good quality CCF is not.. those semi frozen ones at supermarket is a no-no for me.. sigh!
