I know of a contractor who lives in Seremban but do works in KL.
His works, excellent but price, sky-high, so u dun know to know him
I support this, we need a place to discuss this and keep a record. Yes I know contractors is just looking for a living, but our cash isn't easy to earn earn either. If this contractor is reputable in our forum here, he/she will have at least a handful of steady customers.
I know a contractor who is multitasking. He can handle a house renovation job worth few hundred thousand and also don’t mind to do small repair job worth few hundred ringgit.
I met him when he did the house renovation for my younger sister. I asked him to repaint my condo including sanding and polishing the hardwood flooring for 3 rooms. The job was RM8500 few years ago.
When I came back from holidays last Dec, I noticed the wooden wall panel of the wardrobe in the 3rd room was warped due to water. I believed the water is rain water came from the small cracks of the external wall of the building. I can’t fix the external wall, it is more than 150 feet height from ground level. I asked the contractor to dismantle the wardrobe including the sliding doors and drawers, applied a layer of water-proofing material on the inner wall, repainted the wall with a new coat of paint and reinstalled back the wardrobe and drawers. The breakdown of the cost is – woodwork (RM750), water-proofing and repaint (RM200), this is cheap.
He is good and he once told me when he was approached by people to quote, he can more or less know a person from the ways the person bargain the price. He will normally quote a very high price to get rid of fussy people who want cheap and good. I believe him as this is reciprocal. People like to complain about expensive contractor but don’t know how to build a trust/balance between price and quality.

Non-compliance with tribunal award by maid agency
I have been locked in a disagreement with PMA maid agency in Puchong for not fulfilling their obligations. I requested for refund from the agency but failed. After went through hard time attempting to get back my money, I found my last hope – consumer tribunal.
My case was set to be heard at the tribunal on 15 October 2014. The tribunal President awarded me a refund to be paid by the maid agency within 14 days or the maid agency will face criminal charges under Section 117(1) APP 1999!!
But unfortunately, the maid agency refused to refund after 14 days. I made a complain of non-compliance with the award to the Enforcement Division, Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism on 30 October 2014.
On 29 January 2015, my lawyer served the maid agency a Notice 218 which they have to pay the refund within 21 days. As until today 1st March 2015, I still have not get back my hard-earned money yet!!
I want JUSTICE!!! Please tell me where can I find it……… Please help........
Please share contact. I also do not mind paying as long as it is not a cowboy job !!![]()
For those I know in person, I will either pm them or sms them if they are interested to explore this contractor.
IMO, The glaring truth is, finding a good reliable contractor is a chore for many. They come and go, fly by night, God knows where.. but of course there's established or known reputable ones but then COST is a concern and can be a frightening matter.
Every contractor is a gamble...period. There's no guarantee every past job is to everyone's satisfaction or yours for that matter. They too have a fair share of labor problems and change workers as time goes by. Different skilled or semi skilled workers isn't any guarantee of a consistent quality job. Its NOT the boss himself doing all the work everytime.
Recommending is also a risk. People may help out by recommendation..but then, what happen thereon is technically no concern of the person or friend who recommended this contractor. Should the contractor screw and mess things up, the recommender could be blamed for some bad recommendation. Sorry sounding negative but I think thats the downside of all these "finding good contractor" matter.
