    Anti Profiteering Act

Hello all, I heard that Astro is going to increase its HD services from RM20 to RM25 starting from 1st December 2014. Hence, will the price increase be subject to Anti Profiteering Act?
    Any law sifu can advise?

I'm guessing, they can do almost anything they like..in the guise of adding more HD content, value added services and what nots. Willing seller, willing buyer applies. In Malaysia, if don't like, stop subscription, they won't batter any eyelids. They're here to make the most from you...typical business monopoly and rakyat suffer because of protection and no equal or surpassing competition.
On the other hand, RTM is taking ages to switch terrestrial TV transmission to Digital.. the digital transmission test phase is still ongoing as seen on my TV which have a digital tuner built in. Not all LCD/LED TV are digital tuner ready, moreover your friendly salesman are not ready to answer to this positively when you shop for some model of your choice. Some know, some don't. The picture quality is just equal to Astro nonHD transmission, minus all the ills of analog transmission interference noise. You still need an outdoor antenna to receive, no doubt.

I have unsubscribe Astro a long time ago. There are tons of websites where you can watch your fave movies/dramas online. Just plug the HDMI cable from your laptop to your TV.
Why need to subscribe to Astro & let them take your hard-earn money?
If you believe in yourself, anything is possible

Generally speaking all people are entitled to their choice based on willing seller, willing buyer basis, even though it can be perceived as a pricey route to extra TV entertainment and cornered by monopoly.
Its all up to you really but many have subscribed for years despite being aware of the whole idea of it all.

We the consumer vote by our hard earned cash, I don't like something or feel like somebody is trying to rip me off, I just unsubscribe them and look for alternative.

I jump off the Astro bandwagon long time ago, the constant repeating of the same content over and over, the shows I want to watch are just a handful, but I pay over 150 bucks for it each month.

Protip, If you are an Apple user and using Unifi, get yourself an Apple TV, and AirPlay anything and everything off whatever device you have. Bliss...

Not all are interested on movie/drama only. Satellite TV is helpful in the event of live telecast – sport and breaking news.

For example, on last Friday, the HD news channel - Sky News stopped all its scheduled programs and broadcast live the events of hostages held in Eastern France and the shooting of terrorists in Northern France. I followed the live news until the French elite police stormed the two premises....

During last year World Cup, I can pre-set the recording of my favorite matches using the PVR of asstro-IPTV, a big convenience to people like me who treasure a good sleep at night..

Not trying to defend the monopoly of asstro...
It is about choice and convenience, each have different expectation and needs. Simpleton thinks everything should be free.. everything is expensive except when it is free... extra few rinngit per month also want to seek legal advice… What a life ??

Watch your language, Greenwich. It is offensive to call people simpleton, just because somebody prefer to watch online rather than the repeat programmes on Astro

In my previous post, I said “Simpleton thinks everything should be free.. everything is expensive except when it is free.

I did not say simpleton is .." somebody who prefer to watch online rather than the repeat programmes on Astro"

But you seem very work out and admitted you felt offended,.. why ??
