ALL the universities in the top 20 are English-medium* universities.. !!
I always puzzzle why top universities in Germany, Japan, China and Russia are never in the top 20 list. I guess criteria (5) explains why. Universities in non-english medium countries are not able to attract enough talents to study, to do research and to teach there. Not many people want to spend precious 2-3 years to learn the native langauge of these countries in order to study there.
I am also surprised there are only 3 UK universities that made it to top 20 lists. Cambridge and Oxford are of course indisputable, but Imperial College London ?? It is not difficult to get a place into Imperial College nowadays. 3 distinctions in A level and RM500k will be an assurance for enrolment..
Note * : ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich) uses German in undergrdauate program but English in postgraduate studies.
p/s : For parents with young children who are interested of University of Toronto, perhaps can explore Sunway International School which use the Ontario School curriculum. This is one of the few international schools which import both (the curruculum and the teachers) from the country of origin.... Personally, I am not impressed with the hardware of the school. Due to limited space, they share campus facilities with Sunway College which is located next to the school.
