Khazanah to pump in RM6 billion to restructure MAS

With 6000 staff cut and moving main operation to KLIA, will the new initiative work?

Pls hire the ceo based on merit and competence, not because of race. That is if they are serious

Just went into MAS Online Booking and almost fell off my chair... after getting RM896 all-in for Penang to Jakarta return on economy, they slammed a surcharge of RM3,228 on my charges... pengsan! The stupid website has never worked properly for years but then again I don't think MAS care.... so why should I care.... I can always take Air Asia, or fly Garuda or KLM or even Malindo!

Today I received an email from MAS saying my confirmed booking on a MAS flight is qualified for an upgrade. Click "UPGRADE NOW" to upgrade... Since I received the email on my Blackberry, I waited till I get back home to SS19 and then went on mail... was happy that finally MAS has recognised me as a regular flyer and let me have an upgrade to Business Class... told my wife on the way back it would be great to fly long distance in business class... so much more comfort, better food and no need to queue up to use the washroom...

So in great excitement and anticipation, I click on 'UPGRADE NOW" on my Yahoo! Mail to accept the upgrade! Blardy fool, idiots of people in MAS - they ask me "how much are you willing to bid to get the upgrade starting with minimum RM800 per passenger? This is a bidding game with the other passengers!

So desperate to get more money and revenue they resort to to online bidding for upgrade - what blardy cheapskate airline is this? And use misleading marketing as "you have been chosen for an upgrade to Business Class!"

Better the airline close down.... if they have to resort to such silly marketing gimmicks!

What is wrong with that offer? They are trying to maximise income by not letting seats go empty or give free upgrade to hangers-on.

I too received the same message. Trip to HK which I bought for RM 1071 return in economy. To upgrade I can bid RM 300 to 700 for each sector. If I bid the maximum I would have paid about RM 2500. In comparison a business class ticket would have cost RM 4000 at the time of my original booking. Now with some offer it is RM 3323. So it is up to you whether you want to pay or not.

From stories I read on RPK blog, MAS problem is not only poor marketing and management, try google keyword like MAS, Tajudin Ramli to find out more.

My friend, then they should state it clearly in their email - bid for upgrade... not "your flight has been confirmed as eligible for upgrade. Click here to upgrade!" This sounds free upgrade....

For my flight to Adelaide, it is not worth the minimum bid of RM800 one way sector... its 2/3rd the cost of the business class ticket...

This is now like McDonalds... add 50 sen for large glass of Coca-Cola.... which actually is a bigger glass with lots more ice cubes...
