Credit card issuer won't leave you alone.

If you guys remember, some time ago I posted comments on how the Blue & Green Bank which can't accept that I have cancelled the Visa card.

I call the bank and they say someone will call me soon to confirm my cancellation. This is not the first time.

This is their modus operandi. Despite me not having their card anymore they will still send me a statement for Government tax. They call me back to say they will waive it but will send me a new card despite me telling them I am not going to activate or use it. I will just cut it. This could be the outsource company.

They say I can keep the card and cancel it in March. What nonsense. Didn't I tell them to cancel it last year and the year before.

I think I know why they are doing this. You see, these f.... have to maintain a quota of card membership. So they keep issuing you with a replacement card, even though you didn't want it, and pay the Government tax on your behalf. This is how they artificially maintain their quota.

I asked the caller if the conversation was being recorded and she said yes. So I told her if this continues I will write to Bank Negara to lodge a complaint about their harassment. Maybe I should do it tomorrow just to teach this f...

If forumers have any "beef" with financial institutions and wish to complain to BNM, this is how you do it.

I recently wrote against the blue and green bank calling it "once the big strong and friendly bank" and the long letter appeared in The Star (by Greenbug, Penang)...

The bank is getting very inefficient and has very poor customer relationship... I spend about RM4000-RM6000 monthly on air tickets and hotels and entertainment as I use this Visa from the "once big, strong and friendly bank" for business and business entertainment - in May the young chico officer cancelled my card because I owe them RM8000 and I didn't and couldn't pay as I told them I don't how to pay coz my wife isn't in the country.... and on a day I banked in a cheque for RM585,000 to my personal savings account, they told me they cannot renew my card! I have owned this Gold Visa since 1985!

And a senior director whom I called on the mobile phone farted on me as he didn't lift a finger despite promising to look into it....

Yes, that green and blue "once big strong and friendly" isn't the same bank anymore....

Don't expect Bank Negara to do anything useful to help you with your problems with insurance companies or banks.... lots of meetings and hot air that leads to nothing after a year or two of investigation... very young officers in Bank Negara who has never done any real banking before handling your case against seasoned bankers? Officers who hasn't got any real insurance experience versus seasoned insurance practisioners? Forget it man....

Unless you are good yourself and can handle them (both) forget about it... if I read it well, BNM do not protect us ordinary folks... that's only lipservice! I recently fought an insurance company in front of BNM officers till kingdom come... expensive affair but I could fly down anytime and in the end its who can stand the long process... don't forget one thing, these officers are paid their salaries so they can tahan till they retire at 55... can you tahan that long fighting them?

My suggestion is simple - close your account, forget the ego and the pride - and bring your business to another bank who appreciates your business...

What this bank is doing is despicable. They can send you a statement to say you owe them money (Gomen tax) on the card when in actual fact you don't. How can you owe them Gomen tax on a card you don't have?

The idea is to make you call them and they will go through the same routine of sending you a replacement card knowing very well you have cancelled and don't want it. Talk about being hard-up.

If it is the outsource company then the bank should reprimand them or terminate the contract for such unethical practice.

Just to share a real story. My kawan cancelled his SCB card and got confirmation from the "bunk" on it. He forgot to inform his insurance coy to cancel the standing order on his insurance. My kawan wanted to cancel hisr insurance thinking that if his SC "bunk" card is cancelled, his insurance will lapse due to non payment of insurance premium. One year later he got a bill from the "bunk" on RM50 and the insurance charges. This SCB "bunk" reactivated his card without my kawan's consent and allowed the insurance coy to charge my kawan. Now my kawan is very upset with SC "bunk" cos he has 2 problems now i.e. a unwanted SC "bunk" credit card and unwanted insurance coverage. Very sneaky SC "bunk".

I personally had very bad experience with them and fortunately managed to cancel my credit card with SC "bunk, and that also after I wrote a nice letter to their CEO. Whenever this Price Solution calls me, I will tell them to fooooooo.... off.

If you do a search of this forum on the Mortgage Plus II fiasco with this once-upon-a-time Big Strong Friendly Bank you will see that they are the main culprits although Manulife was no saint in the case.

Despite the top IT man, a Dato-titled foreign man I think, wanting to look into their Online Rewards website which I highlighted, until today no one has really bothered... so if the head is rotten, what do you expect the rest of the bank to be?

I checked my record. My last tele-conversation with them, before yesterday, was on 17/2/14 at 2.35 pm and they confirm my cancellation.

Before this there were two other ocassions in 2013 when they send me a statement to say I owe them money for a non-existent card. Once for RM50 (tax) and another for RM10 being late charges on the RM50 which they they claim I owe. This is adding insult to injury.

I don't even have a banking account with them. Needless to say I won't be opening one with them anytime soon.

Banks are robot so are their agents.

I used to receive credit card statements from HXXX bank though I have never applied and never even seen my card before, it took me 3 years to settle this matter.

I have encountered a collection agent appointed by SCB who claimed that they have sent my medical reports, etc to bank and demanded me to pay x amount, well if I have that x amount, I would have serviced my loan on my own! One day I decided to call up SCB to discuss with them directly only to know that they have NEVER received anything from the said collection agency at all, the officer was like what? And he asked me to ignore calls from the agent.

Do you guys know this book "How to Represent Yourself in court and fight banks"?
I am not promoting this book even though I know the author in person, but what he says in the book makes sense. I have a copy with me or you can get it from MPH, RM15 only.

I don't trust banks at all, and even newspapers are fake!!
I once read about this in The Star, "A Quick Fix to Medical Dispute", The bureau, to be operational by Dec 1 2013, I have been writing to them but was given all kind of excuses, yes, till today, delayed for a good 8 months.

The bank will lend you the umbrella on a sunny day and takes it away when it begins to rain....

I have learned about banks and bankers in the last 7-8 years since I left the corporate world and went on my own into the mining and power generation business in Indonesia... They only want 110% secured business, they won't take no risk with your business and they will not give you any help or seed capital... they will come to you once they find out you have succeeded.... half the bankers I have met are not that smart and shouldn't be working in the finance industry... no business acumen nor ability to visualize a business at all...

I have since 3 years ago earned the right to show my centre finger to bankers in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore and all they can do is smile... the satisfaction of having the last laugh! They are still paid their meagre SGD15000 a month to count the money in their bank for us... serve them right!!!

So when they present you proposals to invest your excess cash in the current account into some wealth management packages / products, do to them the way they did to you before when you asked for loan to fund your projects, make it hell for them! If they still don't learn, they deserve to be where they are!

I dislike bankers... even though I have a sister who just retired as CEO of a Malaysian bank...

Good job @Sentinel, me used to be a banker too, 2 decades ago, but not in loan dept.

I told my friend I owe bank money, my friend asked "you applied for it?", I said no, they called to offer me, then my friend said "well, who asked them to give money to you?" ... lollll
