GST = Geng Songkok Tinggi?
That's what all the sellers told me, even if you order before 1/4 but if the goods come after this date, we have to pay GST.
The problem lies in your supplier which didn't manage to get the goods in after 4 weeks. It's not your fault, they should pay GST.
If it's just a few days, we can understand.
I ordered a few electronic spare parts for my LCD TV repair from Element 14 on 31st March, delivery 24 hours if local stock, backorder from UK if no stock on hand. OK..nothing much. 70 sen to Rm2 something barang. They phoned me to say, the back ordered parts MAY be subjected to GST as its surely due to arrive after April 1st or 4-5 days. I've already paid in full all without GST. So when that remaining one item come, it'll either be no extra or got added GST charge, I'm unsure. I'm guessing they'd just forego that wee bit charge, afterall, I'm a trade customer with permanent account with them.
Was at Speedmart99 to pick up some groceries. Its apparent to me most items are with 6% GST added to the original price. Its not a revision of price which could have 10% sales tax already incorporated, then re-totaled with 6%GST.
BSLee,
FYI about 99Speedmart, information from one of its ex-staff whom I know well. The prices are adjusted every week ! She told me that is why she is always in the shop with the price tag machine every day and a daily list until she cannot take the routine anymore.
So, if this week (being the start of GST) everything is "obscenely" high, then if can wait, just wait and see the readjustments when stocks do not move![]()

As one grows older, one has to eat healthier. So, add more vegetables into the mix
I presumed every manufactured product have 10% sales tax already incorporated into the final price. We don't see it at all(of course I exclude all those hawkers, businessmen, kopitiam, tai chow, numerous more, etc etc) Its already in the price and no-one have dissected anything to question it in the past. Since GST is supposed to replace the current 10% sales tax it should be lower...that's how I'm thinking and my diagnosis. I could be wrong though or can someone or some real expert go double check, then convince me?
Yes, I did notice some products already adjusted and highly possible due to Shringgit factor and price gone up.
Can Campbell Soup. Last price recalled RM3.80, then raised to 4something..now with added GST 6%, even more. BTW..that can comes from Jalan Tandang PJ factory.
Scotts Emulsion. Last price was 10something nett. Now 13something with GST.
At UK..can of Heinz Baked Beans.. £0.29. Sini? Chap Ayam Baked beans = RM3.07 with GST
Cheapest can of cat food Before RM2.99 (most stable price, never change for long time) Now is RM.3.17/can. Its 6% added just like that.
You can go to this Malaysian Customs link to check if a company is authorised to collect GST. Searching by company name is easier.
You don't need to register or login. Under the search section click on "Lookup GST status."
