In the first place, There are hundreds of thousands residing on the coast in stilts along the coast line from Tawau to Semporna to Lahat Datu till Sandakan. Imagine , Semporna , the population of illegals equal or more than local. Much of the tourist trade and cheap fishes and cheap labour comes from the illegals. It is common to see a coffee shop employing 5 to 6 illegal waitress.

Among them, they contributed much to the local economy, i.e. Oil Palm estate workers, fish farm workers, Resorts workers, waiters and waitress ,etc, The local malays are from Kalimantan and they have duo citizenship . Many travel back and forth
to see their relatives in Kalimantan, like you go back to Penang and back to Kuala Lumpur and work.

The police and security knows them well and leave them alone. However, when the muslims were fighting to gain Indepence for Mindanao , Malaysia assist to armed them with M-16 and arms for their cause. Now ,that they come to a agreement with the Philipine Goverment, many are excluded. The excluded ones needs fund and the best way was to kidnap and demand,.

The innocent ones who have been staying in Sabah are now terrorized . So in short it is the same as US arming Qsama to get rid of Russian in Afghanistan.

One thing is clear, the whole episode creates a big food chain. many millionaires are created, federal and local. So how to solve ?

A fish rots from the head, cut the head and buy a new fish.

You expect the quacks here in usj.com to come up with a plan that the so-called military and civilians "leaders" can't? In that case he/she should replace that new ASScom commander

Most pump boats are use for fishing...by banning the pump boats...u are depleting the locals of their livelihood... u are also killing a local industry of boats building.

MM said to demolish stilt houses occupied by illegals.....a lot of legals also live in stilt houses since time began.

Why are these people talking rubbish?

Surely they know the root cause of kidnappings?

Such kidnappings were never heard of 5 years ago

Even back in 1986 when I was based in our Kota Kinabalu office for 3 months to help set up a sales processing system to link to our National Distribution Center NDC in Shah Alam, I was already in the Karamunsing Shopping Complex wondering if I was in Manila because everybody inside there spoke Tagalog... and I had problem asking where to buy my favourite Ais Krim Potong.... Its already 28 years since then... I am sure the place is now La Little Manila... (geez... I was a young chico then... )

I'm observing that since Sabah is in the news for many wrong reasons, I'm thinking its going the way of the worst cowboy country in this region. Those are all very serious crimes, from shooting people dead, robberies, now international kidnapping.. I think its being as bad as USA Wild West in the mid 19th century. I perceive its getting out of hand.
