If it is true that no ransom was ever paid in the last few transactions, future victims are in grave danger of being killed.

They think they do it for fun!

mabul have a small police outpost whilst Sipadan have a permanent live-in garrison of security officers living the lifestyle of beachbums, pool players, volleyball players, sweepers, cleaners and of course training and with 60mm machine guns bunkered down & trained towards Barracuda Point ...

while mabul usu have a 2 or 3 men patrol who will go around the resorts, around midnight, to check the ID of the guests...I am not surprised that shoot out had happened at that hours...

Looks like sipadan & mabul and that side of wild wild east are now off limit for a longgggggg time...

My heart goes to the death security officer...

If you have not been there, you only read from the papers. I was there two years ago and had a similar farm in Silam, off Lahad
Datu. This is the way I describe it;_

Fish farming ( Loong Foo ) Tiger Dragon Groupa ( sek pan ) is started by Borneo Aqua Harvest Bhd and heavily promoted in Hong Kong. A kilo in Lea Yee Moon Hong Kong (live ones ) cost Rm280-00 in the restaurant . In the late nineties ,the Hong Kong Government decides to clear the dirty fishing boat outpost by encouraging the fisherman to go to Phlipines, Malaysia ( sabah) and Indonesia to transport live fishes to Hong Kong rather than fishing.

They go in swarms and Sandakan, Lahad Datu and Tawau was their first choice because of safety. Today they have join ventures with sabahans. Most of these farms employs illegal philipinoes as they were cheap.

These people are so poor that they will work for Rm10 per day with food and lodging thrown in. When the Suluks are attacked,
they feared for their life and some returned home, like me.
Now they are jobless and hungry and will not hesitate to kidnap any Chinese man for ransom for food. Having done that they will sell the victim to Abu Sayat who will demand millions.

Today no chinese man go to the farm and they turn to tourist and resort. Please stay away until things cool down. How to secure a coast three times the size of the Strait of Malacca ? and our Security forces , you should know better....to be continued

yup, a true picture as related by the bajau penghulu to me too...Dont be surprise to see many (the whole men community in fact!) of the Mabul bajau wearing red polo shirt with a BIG slanting brand at the back

Digression: if i have to traverse hundreds km of rough seas in tiny sampan on a tiny yamaha engine, slave 24/7 on top of a small barge, with zero employee benefits, kosong epf, zip socso let alone career path and worst, with nary any entertainment nor convenience but mere stars and mozzies for night company...I'd also kidnap my rich Bolehlander & HKongee employer lah
