I have a 13 year old Kancil (EZ850) with milege of 76,XXX. As the car is getting old, lots of parts now need changing. In all of these years, the car has not given me any problems, except for the usual part changes due to wear and tear. This year is different. I just spent about rm7XX for service and replacements. For my next service they recommended a whole lot of things that needed to be replaced and done with which will cost me about rm5K. (I don't have to do it all at the same time.) The car paint is also peeling off, and I was considering getting a new paint job (including some knocking out of dents) which will cost me another rm1500 - rm2000.

My husband insists that its time for me to change my car as the cost of maintaining my old Kancil is getting too high. My argument is I would rather spend rm7K for my car to be in tip-top shape and last me another 10 years than spend Rm30K or RM36K on a brand new car. (Perodua Viva)

I have similar Kelissa, just spend RM 1,200++ but few year ago i have repaint it, also around 13 years plus. Due to convenient and cost saving the workshop in USJ 19 which have services under them for 12 years, the boss told me no problem can last at least 5 years. So i continue using this la ya but convenient car. See how car price & petrol price after GST April 2015. Some say car price up some say down...

13 years may sound a long time for a car but 76,000 kilometers is not.

I think this car can easily be on the road even on 200,000 if you take good care.

But that mean you need to put in a bit of money to maintain properly.

If you are prepare to fork out maintenance money, then stay with it.

If not, buy a new one

Good news. Heard frm radio that they are giving discount bout 6k for viva for old model. Heard a new model coming out.

But dont bother buying from usj taipan branch. Service suxs and two of them disappoint me.

My case was my aircond already serviced and changed parts, bout 1k and the compressor almost KO , another 2k soon.

Tyres bout 2 yr n need changing. CD/Radio making fun of me...

Disc brakes need changing and etc.... Will cosf me another 5 to 8 k.

New car payment will cost me less$100 permonth.

So might as well change lar... Now got usb drive, car more smoother, engine quiet, new car smell,Temporary no scratches on body... lol

The 6k limited period only... Maybe up up to raya only.
Btw, end of year or when budget announce, your car value will drop, i heard.
I would hv got a higher value last year but i dilly dally this recently...
