I didn't know canaries can sing. Thought they were the birds miners bring down to the tunnels as "early warning system" for gas.

I am not sure if this was in jest or serious but a canary bird will sing to de-stress when there is foul air in the atmosphere so that was the reason they were brought down into the mine pits to help miners be forewarned if there were underground gas that were found in some of the coal seams... and if kept in a room, it will also sing to de-stress if one farts and contaminate the air... so when the saying "sings like a canary" is used, it is to say the person will speak out if he smells a fart ie a wrong doing. I guess the new terminology, which would now put the canary legacy permanently to rest, would be WHISTLEBLOWER, no? (Or Edward Snowden?)

Well, the late PI Bala's family just sued Jibby and Big Mama for sending them on a holiday (exile) to India... wonder if this qualifies them soon...
