    QS World University Rankings 2013/2014

    http://www.topuniversities.com/university-rankings

In latest rankings, Malaysian public varsities lose out to Singapore, Hong Kong
    http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/m...gapore-hong-ko

The MI byline implies the ranking was unexpected.

M'sian scores were higher for research productivity and being most international in the region.. hmmm.. what's the international enrolment like in the public universities? What's the quality of these international students?

NUS, NTU among Asia's top universities in QS ranking

    http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/...p/1103540.html

    NUS came in tops.

The last time UM scored highly it was because someone thought it had a high international student and faculty ratio (Indians and Chinese)

Lot of rankings nowadays for university..

As money is the single most important criteria for enrolment to good university nowadays (of course, provided your offspring have the required entry qualification also lah), I guess the $$$ needed to get in the university is the best indicator of ranking !!

Who care korea or Nippon or some said China universities are among the best in the world, you wanna send your offspring there and torture them for 2-3 years just to learn mandarin/Korean/nihongo-ho ??

The choice is always (in this order) :

    1. NUS or NTU (when $$$ is a headache)

    2. Melbourne/Sydney or Adelaide/Perth (when $$$ is a manageable headache)

    3. Imperial College/LSE/Oxbridge or Harvard/Yale/Princeton, etc (when $$$ is not a headache)

Well, there are plenty of other choices that money can buy (even the student is worst-case scenario). For example, the nothinghell university where your 1pm came from which specialize in kankong economics..

Private Education Industry is very lucrative mainly becoz the public sector is lacking.. likewise health services.

Given a choice (if public school is on par with expectation), people won’t spend that kind of money to send their kid to international school.

Most just don’t want the kid to waste precious time study hell a lot of rubbish in public school which are irrelevant in future, and worse sit for public examinations which have lost their quality and glory days.

Minister admits poor education system, says ‘blueprint will solve all’

    http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/m...will-solve-all

He also said a “war room” was being planned to ensure that the higher education blueprint, to be launched by year's end, would be carried out smoothly.

Just sprinkle some fairy dust and wave Harry Potter's wand ; will do the trick.

    Blurred print or blue film?

If the Minister knows it is a failure, admits it is failure, he should be able to print his letter of resignation for incompetency in black and white. No colorful fancy consulting characters like Do Re Mi. Itu dia!

I think the govt should make it mandatory for all cabinet ministers' children to study at the public schools.

Agree, what's sauce for the goose is also sauce for the gander. They should partake with the peasants.
