    Secondary School in USJ

Anyone can recommended top three Sekolah Menengah in USJ area?
Is there any fixed rules that if your kid from certain SJKC will go to certain Sekolah Menengah?
What are the criteria to determine which Sekolah Menengah to go by MOE? by house address or by result?

Usj16 or 17 might goes to smk 13. Usj 3 might goes to smk usj 4. Only those houses just opposite smk 12 will have chance. They definitely will look on your water bill or electrical bill

No need to be so kiasu or kiasi, let your child grow up freely mix with friend.FYI one cluster school do not get good ratings after changing the management.

I fully agreed on this. There are so many parent here try many ways in order to send there child in those famous school and by doing this, those really stay near to that school have no chance to enter.
Previously, the HM have chance to select a potential A's student for enrollment but now, with the application online, all the enrollment will by KPM and i think this is a good sign and fair to the parent and fair to the school.
The cluster school do not get good ratings not really on changing the management but more on the above reason.

Errr ... I got a question too .... hoping to get some insights from parents in USJ secondary schools. I am also kiasu and kiasi ....

Which secondary school got the BEST CO-CURRICULUM ACTIVITIES ?

I am looking for a school that really play sports, do their clubs activities, uniform units etc FOR REAL ... and not the bullshit lip-service half-hearted co-curriculum currently practised in LH ... I got a shock when my boy told me that they have never done any track and field events like running, long jump. triple jump, high jump. discus, javelin, shot putt or even hurdles in LH .... OMG !!!!

All they do is basketball, ping-pong and badminton ... all indoors, the school is damn scared of the SUN and smell of grass !!!!!!

I told my wife the school is producing cohorts of "fat pondans" out of the boys ...

Currymee, if you are referring to primary school especially on sjkc, i hardly see any of them having track and field events. This is because : 1. majority of the sjkc do not have a bigger field 2. lack of teachers especially on this track and field events and further more, all the teachers are heavily loaded especially if you compared 1 class 45 students vs 30 students 3. SJKC normally more emphasis on academic rather than co-curriculum, sports and etc. It is also more related to the parents where they want their children score 7A's in UPSR rather than score 7A's in sport. 4. In door sport is more safer than out door for most people. I think most of the sjkc parent prefer their child taking part in door sport rather than outdoor, am i right ?

I didn't know this is the current trend. Parents actually prefer their children to take part in indoor sports? Wow!

The mentality of parents nowadays is very much different from our time. At our time, we can play any sports at anywhere without any guardian. we can be injured , can be beaten by our friends without any hu ha from our parents. This is normal.Nowadays , if one of the kid is being beaten or injured by others, what is the reaction of parents ? Police, Lawyer , Newspaper and all sort of thing will go against you.

off course I m kiasu and kiasi.. if not, I wont ask this question. I have been in SM nearby my house last time when there were not form six class in my secondary school. The SM is not famous and is full of samswng and bully cases. I didnt ask for perfect school, but I do believe those school who all parent eagerly send their kids to that school.. then I would think the quality of the schoolmate majority are not bad. Cases of bullying will be lesser. For me, academic result no need to be excellent, co-cu more important. So those famous school tends to have more choices on co-cu. Correct me if I am wrong.

Seriously, I am speaking from experience. I used to be in famous SMJK school back olden days. Being na´ve that time, heard good remarks that going into technical schools will guaranteed employability after graduate. When in, the teachers (some) and students sucks, this indirectly affect my motivation to be "hardworking". I am not superb student but at least I see myself average student when in SMJK.

The first term when we entered the technical school, all the Chinese still very motivated. All 7 of us managed to score top of the class. Then nightmare started when our class teacher retired and change new one. I must say this one is typical racist - he failed all 7 of us in BM paper thus seeing all 7 of us go down to the middle. I cannot accept the fact that all 7 of us failed BM papers all the terms for both Form 4 and Form 5. This has greatly affect my motivation to study hard b'coz no matter how hard you study, you will never be able to climb to the top.

On the other hand, our math teacher has to teach the basic again to those student who are weak in mathematic. As a result, the teacher was unable to complete the entire syllabus and has to rush through the last few chapter.

Luckily, I have achieved a good career path after graduate despite the failure.

Hence, I am of the opinion that parent should carefully select the right school with right attitude of learning. This is not kiasu or kiasi but just the external force would definitely mold someone.
