This is really mysterious. It seems that all the objects found in Indian Ocean was rubbish and fishing equipment after one week of search. Could it be they are searching in the wrong area ?

There is nothing mysterious about it. That area was just a guesstimate. The Air France plane went down in a known location and it still took them 2 years to find the wreckage despite pieces of debris being found within a few days. In this case initially they were not even sure which OCEAN or HEMISPHERE it went down in? As for the Diego Garcia theory, don't you think the Russians or Chinese don't have satellites watching it 24/7?

Agreed. Be reminded that it's been more than 3 weeks..if there was even some floating debris from 370, the only way might be for it to wash up somewhere sometime in the future.. maybe NZ or even Chile.

The might have to take a shot at a best guesstimate and start towing and use underwater locaters.

It took 5 days to locate the crash site and wreckage of Air France. I hate it when Hisapmudin always misrepresent it took 2 years to find the Air France crash site. It shows how dishonest Hisapmudin is.

It is true it took 2 years to recover most of the wreckage including the black box from the bottom of the sea.

Boeing and Rolls Royce have politely not commented so far but not for long.

You caught him with his pants down!!! But then again, he can said what he had said might be misquoted. How lei?

However with the flips and flops, how many can accept the credibility of MY officials?? Even if the mistake is made, just make the apology sincerely and rectify the situation to avoid further damage.

Many Malaysians are lying low ....like 1 top Malaysian student in HK ( just proudly awarded in USA creative technology design last year ) her mother said he was too malu to go out for his social activities as question of MH370 surely pop out to him.

The fact that the electronics can be switched off just like that means the current aviation regulations is neither tamper proof nor hijacking proof.

A plane can disappear just like that.

By right, there should be an automatic signal every 10 minutes that can't be switched off by the pilots or anyone on board.

I hope the new IATA meeting will address this issue.

What is the significance of "Goodnight, Malaysian three seven zero" and not "All right, goodnight" spin by the government? Misleading world on pilots' frame of mind?

    No spin really.

Just another example of bungled communication.

"alright, goodnight" version was likely from a family briefing in Beijing. This has been going around for a couple of weeks. The MAS CEO was actually asked indirectly whose voice it was that uttered those words and he said it was believed to be the co-pilot; he did not correct the words at that time. A couple of days ago, the media and families pressed Hisham for release of the full ATC transcript and it was then showed the last words were actually "goodnight Malaysian three seven zero". MAS and Gov't should have corrected immediately instead of letting it stew for a couple of weeks.

The actual ATC protocol is "goodnight Malaysian three seven zero".

I don’t see much significance in terms of the impact on investigation.

Regardless of whether the error is an intentional spin or accidental mistake due to translation, it shows the lack of professionalism in MAS and the 1gomen.

It can be perceived as a credibility issue of the future official announcement from 1gomen...

IATA is not a regulatory body. It is like a trade union of airlines with 240 members that comprises 84% of the total air traffic. It used to be 2 main regulatory bodies in the world, namely, FAA (Federal Aviation Administration of USA) & EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency).

However, due to emerging of Chinese market, today there are more flights into China, hence, CAAC (Civil Aviation Agency of China) becomes one of the 3 most significant regulatory bodies.

With MH370 missing, I am quite sure there will be some changes of aviation regulation even without IATA recommendation especially by CAAC since this incident impacts China the most.
