MAS's well service planes? Years ago I would agree. Now, I am not so sure. Last year when I had a chance to talk to a MAS engineer. He disagreed with a certain hero codenamed IJ who managed to turnaround MAS for a few years. I asked how so. He said being a engineer he is very concerned with maintenance of planes but apparently this certain hero did not share his view. Maintenance expenditures were cut.
We do not know the real reason of the crash now and may never know, given how things are done in Bolehland. But I find it strange why search and rescue didn't start immediately when the plane went off radar and control tower couldn't contact the plane.

IF act of terrorism,using the stolen passport then maybe it's the lack of attention by the ticketing officer who are suppose to look at the face of the person and the passport . That ' s my view
There is an international database of stolen passports (maintained by Interpol, I think). Did our immigration people use it? If it is SOP to cross check to this database and our people didn't do it, I think our gahment and MAS are going to have to deal with many lawsuits later. MAS is already seriously bleeding, where to get the $$$ to pay for the compensations. I think taxpayers' money will be involved again.

Frankly, until now I still can't understand why a plane can go "missing" without any information at all. Some are hinting Xinjiang Separatist which I am kind of skeptical if security check is thorough or else this can be a very serious consequences to face....
By the way, Malaysia has accepted Singapore's offer to send submarine and divers to help. I hope soon we will have some clues.

As I have said, if it is a engine problem, the pilot would have enough time to sent out a distress signal to nearest tower. Even if one engine failed, the other would still be working enough time for the plane to make an emergency landing.
All pilots are trained to send out distress signal in times of trouble.
Furthermore, MAS has said there's enough fuel for 7 more hours of flight.
Only acts of terrorism or explosion where there's no time to react would prevent them from doing so.
Let me tell you how 'thorough' our security is.
I went to Thailand and bring onboard a small folded scissors around size of a thumb. I was allowed through in KLIA and carried on board my hand luggage.
But on the way back to KL, I brought back the same small scissors but it was confiscated in Thailand because the guards there could even see a small folded scissorsand ask me to remove from my hand luggage.
Thailand immigration officer are much better than the ones in Malaysia. That's from my observation.
Some of them can even speak a little bit of Mandarin to me just by looking at my face.

"ANOTHER pilot who was flying ahead of the missing Malaysia Airlines plane has revealed he made contact with aircraft minutes after he was asked to do so by Vietnamese air traffic control.
The captain, who requested to remain anonymous, told Malaysian media outlets his plane, which was bound for Narita, Japan, was inVietnamese airspace when he was asked to contact the pilot flying the missing plane.
In using his plane’s emergency frequency, he was asked to try and establish its position after authorities failed to make contact.
“We managed to establish contact with MH370 just after 1.30am and asked them if they have transferred into Vietnamese airspace,” he told the New Straits Times.
“The voice on the other side could have been either Captain Zaharie or Fariq, but I was sure it was the co-pilot.
“There were a lot of interference... static... but I heard mumbling from the other end.
“That was the last time we heard from them, as we lost the connection,” he said....."

It is indeed a very sad day. It has been more than 24 hours, just hope for the miracle of their safe return..
I tried to refrain from condemning MAS at this sad moment… as I think the victims and the victims’ family deserve a space of peace without much noises from irrelevant parties.
However, the way MAS handled the crisis, the way and the pace they disseminate/update the “missing flight” info, the way they handled the family member/next-of-kin of the MH370 passengers, the way they conducted press release in Beijing, speak volume for this airliner.
I had stopped using MAS for years which I had repeatedly said in this forum before.. I thank God for my decision.
