An important lessons we learnt from the haze and things we urgently need the school to do.

LESSONS FROM THE RECENT HAZE-EVENTS
The last few days of "kelam-kabut" due to the HAZE has clearly highlighted a few lessons that I would like to share and hope the school and new PIBG AJK will take note.
Firstly, I was told by a father that yesterday in the morning at the front gate, the HM and ex-PIBG AJK members were busy distributing free face masks to any children that were not wearing any masks and also that each classroom teacher was given a box for the children. On behalf of the parents, I would like to extend my gratitude and thank you for their kind donations and gestures - TQVM .
I am happy to note that since the PIBG AGM election of 14th April, the ex-PIBG AJK has been very active and responsive to try and win back the parents support for the future - GOOD FOR YOU - I support your efforts - let's us hope MCA can learn from you too - remember to serve the community that you represent or want to represent (children and parents) FIRST - serve others later - just don't learn to play "politics" like MCA !!
URGENT Work for the new PIBG AJK and School Management
I expect the following matters (usul-usul) to be taken care of with IMMEDIATE ATTENTION and URGENCY. This is for the benefit of all.
1) A Proper and Official School Notice Board (near the main gate) - don't use glass, use perspex/plastic cover. Have a proper one so that parents can know where to check - not randomly and as and when !! Do it properly !!
2) A Blog/website - best example: http://www.yakchee.edu.my/main.htm - since 2009 !! - if they can do it, why can't we ?WHAT IS WRONG WITH LH ?
I have to admit that I felt so "ashamed" that in the last few days due to the Haze, I have to keep refering to Yak Chee's website for updates on any information and directive from MOE and JPN. My friends whose children are in Yak Chee were updating me as their school keeps them informed whenever this is a big news - walau - BIG TIME PAISEI !!!
Another example, last night, I got an email from Sydney Mak (with info from HM - actually 2 hours later than SJKC Tan Siew Sin (Putra Heights) and Yak Chee parents sms to me) asking to help send SMS messages to as many LH parenst as possible to inform about school closure today - luckily I have the contacts of 200+ parents across all Stds and have asked them to help spread the info. HELLO !!! - While I don't mind helping the school but this is NOT THE PROPER WAY to do things !! Furthermore, this forum was down due to cyber DDOS attacks, so the usual channel of dissemination among parents is KO as well. Thus, I hope this lesson is LEARNED that the school (like it or not) MUST MAINTAIN AN UPDATED BLOG/WEBSITE !!
Another example: Yesterday around 11:00AM, JPN Selangor issued a DIRECTIVE to all schools that because haze (API) has peaked above 300+ in Petaling Perdana, school were ordered CLOSED and children can go home !! Parents from other SJKCs informed me as soon as they got the message from their school teachers and when I went over to SJKC Lick Hung to observe, classes continue and parents don't know anything about JPS directive until 1:00pm (for Std 1-3) and 1:30pm (for Std 4-6). I called as many parents as possible to go and pull their kids out !! This is putting children's health at RISK with lack of information to parents !! If other SJKCs can do it and concerned about children's health to take action - LH ????????? This is what I meant when I say CHILDREN'S WELFARE !!!
Some forumers "belittled" and "ridiculed" the forum here as "unofficial", "informal", "forum of trouble-makers", "HM and school read but bo-chup" etc ... but we, parents have got NO OTHER OPTION for OFFICIAL INFORMATION as the school that practices VERBAL notices... the recent days events (haze) have shown the WEAKNESS of the current school approach and policies of the school of not wanting to maintain a website/blog to keep parents updated ... BTW, FYI, if you do so, then there is NO NEED for this forum to exist and have so much influence as you claimed !!!
Please take this as A CONTRUCTIVE CRITICISM for you to improve and get better ... don't get "kecil hati" or "tersinggung" ... I am telling you STRAIGHT as a CONCERNED PARENT !!
3) Keep parents INFORMED - show some TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY !!
If you can do JUST THESE FEW THINGS (improved communications and transparency) you will have done a great job for your "shortened" tenure as PIBG AJK, if you cannot or fail to do so, PLEASE STEP DOWN and don't stand for 2014 !!
PARENTS, THE NEXT PIBG AGM (this Saturday - 29th June 2013 - 2PM) - PLEASE ATTEND AND JOIN ME TO DEMAND THAT THE SCHOOL AND NEW PIBG AJK IMPROVE THEIR COMMUNICATIONS AND TRANSPARENCY ... enough is enough ...

身为家长的我真的很感谢校方和董事们的作为就是分配口罩给没穿口罩去学校的学生。
可惜美中不足。 何为美中不足，为什么只在前门分配口罩而没按排一部份的同伴在后们呢 ？是不够人手吗 ？ 为什么不招集新家协的家长代表一起分工合作呢 ？
我猜测是不是要经过校方在 6 月 29 日的家协大会真式宣告家长有关家协的新主席，新副主席和新理事及新教师理事正式成立了，这些家长代表才可以 在校园有所作为。要不然很奇怪为何校方和董事们没有招集家长代表一齐分工合作。
我相信新家协的家长代表也没经验去处理这些特发事件， 为何校方和董事们不提点他们呢 ？从这论坛可以猜到新主席和校方有联络，为何不一起办事呢 ？是在排挤他们呢还是未是适当的时候和他们一齐在公开的场地露面，因为校方还未宣告新家协家长代表的成立，所以在目前他们的身份代表和立场还蛮尴尬的。但就算他 们没有露面，我也不会说他们没处理这特发事件。因为在其他家长传发给我的信息（有关学校今日休课）有提到是 由新主席通知他们的。
有所谓人多好办事，如果校方，董事们和新家协的家长代表一起办这件事，一定可以谦顾到前门和后门而事半功倍 ，那么在后门进校的学生也可拿到口罩了。可怜当天早上在看管后门的两位老师没穿口罩，就连在前门的保安人员 也没穿口罩。
其实我们该称 Sydney女士为新主席还是既将上任的新主席呢。 原谅我老人家还是有些困惑，我想很多家长和我一样要知道答案。 我们身为家长的更应该要出席 6 月 29 日下午两点的家协大会，应该要自己在大会现场得到答案和其他的详情， 而不是单单靠这个论坛或通过其他家长朋友传达信息。 尤其是通告的问题，家长们一定要请求校方在以后一定要以通告或设立网站来通知家长有关校方的活动而不是靠口 来传达消息。大人用口传达消息都会出错，怎么可以期望小孩呢。 因此家长朋友们，别忘了出席 6 月 29 日下午两点的家协大会。

Couldn't thank you enough for starting the Lick Hung Parents Support Q&A Group way back in 2010. Was already a follower back then when my child not even started std 1 yet with the school. Looking back this site has helped many new parents (and veteran too) tremendously.
Am glad the admin has created part 2 for this thread and the old one will be archived for reference purpose. A lot of valuable parental and study tips there.
As mentioned by Jeannie & nescafeADay....do come back for a 'visit' whenever u r free and share your thoughts and advises
