So, what so great about these corporations?!

These corporations deserve to be punished and fine heavily when get caught! However, we need Indonesia to have strict enforcement or else coming next year it will be another round of hoo haa.

Ah Pak across the river also followed and because he has cheaper land and cheaper labor, he slowly overtook Ah boy and become the biggest producer of peanut-diesel in the village...

The buyer is Ah Moh - someone who is very strict on environmental protection and insist what he buys must pass his own inspection and this inspection is called apanama peanut oil roundtable, something like that..

Although Ah boy know Ah Pak slashed and burn the forest and caused a lot of problem to his family members, but because Ah Pak has violated the roundtable inspection and hence his peanut-diesel fail the inspection and non-competitive. So, Ah boy just kept quiet and let it happenen, every blardy year for the past n years..

    Interesting, isn’t it… ??

Aha ! That explains why the air quality was so bad and poor near the Putra Heights area this morning.

It's been smoking for at least 3 weeks.... It's peat soil fire... And even featured in the ChannelNewsAsia on Spore TV, I saw it when I was in JB... The fire dept had to dig trenches to stop the peat fire from spreading underground...

Following is the Regional Haze Map by NEA Singapore. With the haze gone, I can stop posting the latest update.

Hopefully, the hot spots reduce further but we need to monitor closely since the dry season in Sumatra last till September.

The reasons API hit record high last week in Muar and Port Klang were because of open burning in these parts... Indonesia only gave us 300-400, the rest are from local open burning... check out YB Elizabeth Wong's blog and you can see the locations where local open burning took place...

Is the haze coming back? Today's API for Petaling Jaya has climbed up to 54. It was in the healthy 30s for the last few days.

Be prepared for haze to return said National Environmental Agency (NEA) of Singapore.

NEA said there has been a sharp increase in number of hotspots in Sumatra in the last two days. This morning it was reported 152 hotspots and the latest number reach 261, with 173 of them in Riau.

According to the report, the air quality in a few Malaysian states has worsened, and some areas and Selangor and Malacca have started recording unhealthy levels of air quality intermittently from as early as 8am this morning.
