I am just awaiting for the (soon to be announced) "assistance" that our (beloved) Govt is gonna send over there.... to help extinguish those open fires over in Indonesia. Last time our Govt sent the firefighters into Sumatra in 1997, they send over a 1000+ BOMBA personnel with tons of equipment using our naval ships.... and IT COST THE GOVT MILLIONS....

I am wondering how it is gonna COST the Govt this time, something that the Govt can ill afford with the current 'growing' deficit...... when in actual fact, the cost of putting out these fires belong to those alleged Malaysian companies....

Indonesia President said "sorry" and he had ordered his army to put out the fire.

So relief is on the way

Why can't the companies involved get their people in Sumatra to put out the fires?

Even after heavy rains yesterday and this morning, the API in PJ is still 121. The fires at the source need to be put out by Man or by zgod.

They should go after all the companies responsible for the haze irrespective of whether they are malaysian, singaporean or indon owned. They should start putting some directors in jail then only will people take it seriously.

There must have an Indonesia law to allow prosecution of open burning otherwise they will have to make one.

Following is the satellite picture provided by NEA (National Environment Agency) of Singapore as at 3:15pm yesterday. According to the forecast, for the next 1 to 2 days, winds are expected to continue to blow from the south or south east.

You can see from the picture, there are clouds at the southern part of Malaysia and Singapore. Both southern part of Malaysia and Singapore are forecasted to have rain for the next couple of days.

Corporate owned land fires is just one type of the burning.
There is also the fires on settler's land.
Then there are the peat fires which has always been the worst type of fires to put out as it's burning beneath the surface. Even the peat fire along the ELITE highway near Sepang is still smoking after 2 weeks. And that is not a big area.

The biggest breakthrough is to find the best way to extinguish or control peat fire. Water alone will not work and since it's dry season, getting water at the fire zone is definitely a big problem.

Finger pointing at the origining of those companies is purely bullshits and excuses by Indonesian Ministers. Regardless the origin of the companies, Indonesia has all her right to enforce the laws and punish the culprits.

At least President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is more level head and gracious than his band of narrow minded, tunnel vision greedy politicians.

N95 masks not certified for children’s use.

Source from MOH Singapore"...Children should stay indoors as much as possible while the haze is still present because no N95 masks have been certified for them, the Ministry of Health advised today (June 23).

During a technical briefing on the daily haze update, where National Environment Agency (NEA) officials were also present, Dr Derrick Heng, group director of the public health group at MOH, stressed that there are currently no masks on the market suitable for children.

This is because under normal circumstance, N95 masks are manufactured for industry use.....

    What is PM 2.5?

"….experts over the years have been warning that the smaller particles smaller than 2.5 microns or PM 2.5 are actually more dangerous to health.

The physiological reasons are straightforward: at sizes larger than 2.5 microns, the respiratory tract can quite effectively trap and filter away particles. However, at sizes lesser than 2.5 microns, PM 2.5, particles breach these defenses and penetrate deeply into the alveoli of the lungs and may even enter the blood stream……

So, what are the ‘safe’ levels then?... .Retain the 24-hour PM2.5 standard at a level of 35 micrograms per cubic meter.”
