For a person that doesn't even spend much of her time in Malaysia, she gets a Tan Sri .... I mean ...what does she contribute exactly to Malaysia ?

She made Najib a very happy PM! That's a big contribution.

    AFAIK, 2 criteria:

    1) When you make a certain politician VVIP very rich ...

    or

    2) When a certain VVIP politician feels that they can use you to make them looks good ...

    otherwise ...

Ordinary honest Joes/Janes will just have to wait for their sons/daughters to beget grandchildren for them to be called Datuk ... the best title of them all if you get it this way ... IMHO

I go for last option. I just have to wait another quarter of a century. I am OK with that.

In my years of work so far, I have never met a honest and deserving Latok and Tang Seri. All the Latok and Tang Seri I met are con men.

I want to agree with you but I just can't and I won't try either coz I have two Datuks within my siblings. My brother got his in the 70s when he was a Vice Commodore rank and a second-in-command of the Malaysian Navy but never made it to Rear Admiral when his boss retired coz the NEP kicked in... so he left and joined Singapore Navy.

My sister got hers 2 years ago as she has been CEO of RHB Bank for 6 years before become CEO of Hong Leong Bank (7 years now) and will be retiring end of June at age 60.

So, it will be tough for me to comment......
