The ckt by the auntie at Mei Sek I have eaten before a couple of years ago. I found it just average. That's why I haven't gone for seconds. She could have improved, for all we know. I have eaten the ckt at De Happyland too. My verdict? No no good. Don't don't try!

The "noodle-counting" uncle? That is a class comedy ckt act!!

Are you talking about the kueh teoh seller in USJ14, corner coffee shop, opposite De Happyland? If so, I am so agreeing with you. RM6.50 was gone in 60 seconds and I was still hungry. I have been there twice but I am not going anymore. Must say the taste isn't bad but it is just too expensive to justify another visit.

Were you referring to uh .. this?!?

I was there this morning. Haven't been to Parkway in a while now. Whaddaya know, prices have increased again !! RM5 small, RM5.50 big for most items sold. Used to be 50sen cheaper. Thankfully, it's still RM5 big for a plate of the above, at least for now.

The above is not Penang style ...the black kuey teow is KL style.
Try this KL style kuey teow in Taman Sri Sentosa (off old Klang Road)... really good stuff
It is a fried kuey teow stall in Kedai Makanan Pacific at the shops surrounded by the SriSentosa walk-up apartments

He does it with the fried egg intact on one side of the kuey teow, and lots of fried pork lard

    You're right, Chang.

This is authentic Penang charkuehtiau. Padang Brown, Penang. RM3.50. Done just right. All the time. Damn!

It was so good I ended up having three plates (small) in addition to a bowl of laksa and an order of ABC topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Penang sure isn't good for my waist but you know that already.

Must go check it out when I'm in the area. I especially like the "fried egg intact on one side" concept.

I don't eat cockles because they are river-bred at the estuaries and with all the chemicals and heavy metals coming down our rivers, it would be suicide to have them although I was taught to enjoy cockles cooked only lightly. Therefore when i ordered my dish sans cockles, the fish cake was added as a replacement. Lap-cheong is a KL style standard ...haha, probably KL cooks are more barbaric compared to the more refined Penang cooks

I like this fellow who kept the egg slightly scrambled but intact by the side of the noodles because it is definitely a skill to do so and you know he added the egg with a quick stir just before putting it on the plate.

Please do and tell us what you think. He is opened only for breakfast/lunch. Sometimes by 1pm he is out of "liew" so has to close! Be there early, say 12noon.
