An earthquake?![]()
Naka,
More like ... "thieu kong kam liew" .... the Malaysian "way" ... why do you think mega-projects are given to Korean and Japanese to build Petronas Twin Towers and the Chinese and Japanese building Penang bridges ....
Give to local, probably collapsed by now ... looked at the number of hospital ceilings falling down, leaky roofs in new buildings ... need I say more ...
That is why I avoid the SMART tunnel now if I can ...![]()
Everyday is a good day for GOOD FOODand a GOOD LAUGH

If you have never seen this interchange before, you will be speculating on all sorts of reasons why it collapsed. None of the above comments are correct.
I know this interchange - it was built on peat soil. Peat is a very soft soil and would not support any heavy structures like a highway interchange unless there is sufficient and expensive piling done to support the concrete structures. Ever since this interchange was built and delivered, they have been doing numerous remedial works. Fortunately that interchange was already closed for many months for remedial works.
Why in the first place, proper pilings were not done?
Is it cheaper now to demolish this flyover & relocate it.
Which is cheaper?
One of the road to Putrajaya collapsed...I reckoned this is BN passage.
logicman
Independent consultants pointed out that the second collapse of the roof of the new Sultan Mizan Stadium in Kuala Trengganu was due to "contractor" not having enough experience and expertise....
Which is the same reason for the first collapse....
So, what can you say? Sigh....![]()
Saw the tv7 news, from my pt of view i think the beam is too long and the column cannot hold the weight.
I think except for the uninformed, everyone including the hard core BN supporters, know why the flyover collapsed.
U won't miss what U don't know and U won't know what U are missing!
Chang, I am rather surprise such comment came from you...!!
Unless you are an expert in structural geology and bridge construction, you are no different with anyone (myself included) who know nothing about why and how the bridge collapsed. If you do not possess professional knowledge in this area, whatever your comment about ''what you know about this bridge" is pure speculating also..
The fact that you know the bridge was built on peat soil means nothing .. It is like every tom dick and harry can say they know why the buildings around Sunway collapse because the buildings were built on ex-mining land !!
My point is - Apart from natural disaster like earth quake and landslide, a bridge SHOULD NOT collapse no matter what type of soil it was built on. All these adverse conditions should have been taken into consideration when designing and building a bridge, and the construction of the bridge followed strictly the required specifications by competent contractors..
I did travel to Putra Jaya "often" (like a few times in a year) to attend some boring meetings with DOE and I believe I have used the road underneath the flyover before..
