    Strange Pets...

I have strange neighbors, in fact quite "dangerous" neighbors in view of their extracurricular activities.

Last year, during a heavy tropical thunderstorm here where the winds from the Andaman Sea was blowing gales at close to 40-50kmph with heavy rain, one neighbor's 14-foot albino pyhton escaped.... we had to keep out cats in their cages for days until it was found but it was never found....

Then I heard another neighbor has 3 pitbull terriers and he lets them out at 11pm to roam free in the neighborhood to poo... and I normally walk back from Lone Pine Motel after my nightly game of billiard and a beer.... how to handle 3 pitbulls when I already had a beer too many?

Now I heard a neighbor just bought himself one of those rare centipedes found in Balik Pulau which he boasted is 18 inches long and brilliant dark red in colour and needs to be fed 2 cockcroaches, lizard, grasshoppers or crickets per day....

I think I will go renew my licence for my double-barrel hunting shotgun.... why can't these people just go get a China Doll for a pet?

Well, from the looks of it.....you just need to watch out for the pit bulls.....

.....the centipede will take care of the snake if it ever comes back

Well, I guess it's easier to get pet permit from the home minister for bizarre animals than a lovely China doll..

:-) Strange pets = Strange neighbours. My neighbour on the left warned me not to let the cats out because they have dog.
The neighbour on the right disallowed the cats out because they have a pond of fishes. So, the poor cats most of the time have to stay in and even if they are out, they are on leach.

We love greeneries in the garden. So, naturally we have a lot of plants plus trees but we were requested to remove the trees by the other neighbours because to them it affect the feng shui. Headache. :-(

BTW where I live here in Batu Ferringhi, there is a small kampung settlement further up the hill mostly made up of local Penang Malays and immigrants from Sumatra (mostly from nearby Aceh and Medan) and these people are involved in the tourism business ie they sell stuff from little floats, rent out floats for swimmers, they sell young coconuts for fresh juices... and guess what... they have horses for rental... (those that caused a big fuss when The Star - The People's Paper decided to whack Penang Government one whole week in a row on dangerous beach activities and hill slope development - as though during Gerakan government no kuda on the beach!)

Sometimes these horses and ponies break free from their stable and come to our areas to graze... so now you see yellow bunga rayas blooming, now you don't...

    So we also have horses....

p.s. I have a neighbor who is an ex-Minister selalu pakai bow tie and he has these very low cars - I think they are called Ferraris - and I just thought maybe someday when these horses walk by these cars, I should set off some loud firecrackers and see them horses jump on these cars in fright....

To qualify as China Doll for tax exemption purpose under the Akta Penaksiran Cukai Perseorangan, must be sepet, pengemis, pelacur, kaki judi and kaki botol... oh others are so perfect!

There used to be few huge Bengal Tigers in captivity near the hills of Batu Ferringhi kept by one King of the Smuggling of Protected Species... I think he was featured in the papers last year and now in jail... the sound of the tigers' roar in the still of the night was real scary - like its just nearby - it can be heard few miles away! Thank God the government had taken that away...

Then there is a Yang Arif Judge living nearby - huge mamak fella about 6 footer 2 or 3.... he walks his two tiny little Pinscher dogs - just imagine the contrast between him (SHREK!) and those tiny dogs...

And a sweet young girl, about 15 with her monitor lizard she paid a few Ks for monster-looking green stuff sitting on her shoulder whenever she goes for evening walk...

Yeah, we got strange pets around our residential area...
