Buying a continental car....

I love dim sum so I should have more dim sum. Why keep money in the bank?

I do subscribe to this idea of spending though because I keep thinking why should I leave all my money to my children? They will probably take it and buy a new Camry. So, why don't I buy the new Camry for myself? 5 years ago, I told my wife that we should start loosening our purse. Not dramatically but more willingly to spend. We have grown up and managed our marriage based on frugality and savings. Eat more hawker food than restaurant food. But now the children are on their own, why bother living this type of life? So, a few more things to buy this year:

1. A 55 inch LED TV
2. A new tablet for my wife
3. A new smart phone for me
4. Renovate kitchen
5. Landscape garden
6. A 7-day holiday in Krabi

I love being 50++ years old.

Why not straight to a conti car ---> a Scandinavian tank or a German Passat is pretty “value for money”.

Ps. I test drove both the previous and newest model of Camry. If Camry is your choice, get a 2.4 (previous model) or 2.5 (present model). The 2.0 Camry is not worth the price tag.

My wife would not let me get the new car so I got a used 2.4 Camry. Best car so far. But the next car, I may go Conti again. I had Volvo, MB, and Fiat before but in my younger days so I do not mind being stranded now and then - more because of Fiat and not the Volvo. MB once only when the fluid cable leaked. But I enjoyed the Fiat more as it took me up and down the country. That 131 could run like hell and still stay comfortable.

A Mercedes C300 Kompressor is good for Klang Valley runaround or run-ahead if you like hehe... not too big, not too small, people don't notice you and yet you arrive first... and there's still some fresh salmon cuts on the buffet table and many more fresh oysters airflown in from NZ....

ye gonna be choked by pollution from all those buses, lorries and what have u on the msian road...if open top at Switzerland late spring/summer and early autumn different story lah...Ahhhh! electronic convertible hood.

When at 6th form, had a chilli red 2door MG Midget ..and was always cruising down FHiway to Port Klang with hotty gfren, for that romantic sunset...once on way back to PJ, under the moonlit nite the sky suddenly opened up with vengence...we were drenched within seconds before i can stop to put the hood up...the most embarrassing bit? The bus which i overtook not 5mins ago, went past and the busload of students were jeering & laughing their guts out at us lovebirds! HAHAHAHA!


Yes, ye gotta spend ye money as there is really no point at all to be the richest stiff in the cemetary...

According to my cousin who has one, the top close or open in 6 seconds. So, that kind of drenching will not happen unless you want it to happen so that you can go somewhere to change clothes with hotty gfren....

Why not a brand new 2 liter S80. The horsepower and the driveline will certainly give you the driving pleasure..

My advice is buy a new Volvo car because of the 5 years warranty and 5 years free maintenance, or 175,000km whichever is earlier..

Btw, the 1.6 turbocharged S60 is not bad, judging from the price difference with the 2.0 S60 and S80..

The Volvo now and the Volvo 5 years ago is hell a lot of different...

I guess she has her budget which is why she looks for a 5-year old car. The new price for both S60 and S80 are around RM290K vs. RM100K for a used 5-year old S80. To know more, best check out the S80 forum in Autoworld forum.

Sure, price tag is a key factor..

The car development is moving towards smaller engine (smaller cc) but with higher power output with the improvement in engine design, transmission and energy recovery device or commonly called turbo-charged device.

Look at the new Mercedez C class, it is only 1.8 liters.. and the new VW Passat, it is also 1.8 liter.

I drove them before and I can tell you there is no difference (especially in city driving) with my new 2 liter Volvo.

Yes, it is true..

The 6 speed Geartronic transmission for the local Volvo car is manufactured from a Joint-venture between Ford and a transmission specialist company…

The 2.0 liter engine installed in the Volvo S40 is the same engine for the local 2.0 liter Mazda.
Fyi, Mazda and Ford in Asia belongs to the same parents..

And for Geely, they are the majority shareholder and until now still remain as shareholder only..

ps. It is like what happened to Ferrari when they acquired by Fiat... Don’t tell me you won't drive a Ferrari because it is now belonged to Fiat.. !!
