Real Names
Just a thought~
Alot of our USJ members uses not their real names in this Forum.
Mine is real..Jeff's is real..I wonder why some people like to hide
their real names?
And we complain of no transparency?
2 sens..

This is an interesting point.
It's alright to use nic in IRC.
But in a neighbourhood where we interact F2F (Face-to-Face), it
would be nice if we get to know each other, and to be able to
greet each other by the first name.
One Satish, one Jeff.
We have been using our real name since Day One of this website.
There are pcyeoh, Patrick, Jayen, EL Ho, KW Chang, and probably
more...

My input is that if you want to divulge your personal information, do so using the private message function or e-mail personally to the one you want to introduce yourself to. The reason why we hide behind pseudonyms in a public forum such as this is to protect our privacy in case of unscrupulous criminals who want to track you down and steal your identity...

Mine, almost real

I think for some, it is to prevent their boss from finding out that they had been actively debating on a public Forum on office time, using the office Internet access and office PC
Anyone want to admit to that?
I'm online now and my name is real, so I may get the boot one day if my boss found out !!
-
Me, always online using office PC and LAN. No PC and internet connection at home. Boss always see me surfing, e-mailing etc, but no problem. Yet
-
Oh-oh........ guilty as charged.
IN is my initials. (Almost real name).
I only use the internet in the office.

-
Well, mine is real one : CH (initial) of Malaysia. => chofmy
-
mine is a nick i used for a long time ago. (some 7 yrs ago)
some of my friend know or address me by my nick rather than my real name.
-
kwchang has spoken for me. but i also have another id, real name, kind of unique so its easily recognisable as belonging to me. its used for all my other e-mail accounts. can't use it in the office now. my boss from usj too and probably reading all these posts.
my saving grace - i'm accessible by pte msg and e-mail (2 addr). i've been contacted by other forum members b4 and i gladly reply each and every correspondence. the first one i got in this name was titled "its a mystery who u are". for my job, i'll remain the mysterious joker, but to jeff & co, i can't hide from u.

Names
As were beginning to start this USJ e-community somw years ago, we used to have teh tarik sessions at coffeshops..
A lot of matters got actioned during those sessions for the community's sake..like our blood list..our water problem..b4 that
was the house assessment reduction...we met face 2 face..nn we knew each other in addition to our names. like Fonzie..who is in the mountains..
Know I notice..we even see people (who do not use their real names) to attack another, in the process using some foul words!
This is not e-community!..This is hiding behing the curtain..
Jeff, myself + jb125 have gone on TV/newspapers to hilite the water issues..nn we used our real names.we have nothing to hide..
I m proud of the name given by my parents.
Thats why I was wondering..is there a real reason to use "alternative" names..
No prob ..just wondering..~

Bravo Keith..!
Now we are getting closer...
When we have a chance..we shud meet up at say Sri Melor..or
Weng Soon Jaya...not 2 buy VCDs,
but to chit chat about our community, and how we can make USJ a better place to LIVE!
I know that a lot of our USJ e-community are people at "high"
places, lots of experience...nn so forth..
As Malaysians, we shud put our knowledge to good use for the
community, thereby we do not have to wait for some YB to solve
our "petty" problems.
CHeers!..we shud have a pinta now..

I just get a kick when you guys address me as 'My Lord' or 'Dear Lord'!!
Cool isn't it.
But otherwise, I'm more popularly known as Jerry.
