    Snatch thief killed another victim

    http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp...152&sec=nation

Instead of concentrating on the perpetual menace of the snatch thieves, people are now concentrating on heartless passer-bys.

People are now becoming more and more selfish nowadays but what are the police doing to reduce the number of snatch thieves which cause many deaths every year ?

I feel safe walking around late at night in the little red dot and taking public transport but over here even crossing the roads in the overhead bridges gives me the creeps because it is not lighted and there are scores of people sleeping on the bridges. Never know when one of them might stick a knife into you.

Snatch thieving is probably assumed as some petty theft, but it now goes on record with very fatal consequences. I think gahmen must review the penalty and minimum 20 years jail if guilty.
I feel sad when hearing victims die from this kind of crime. If not mistaken, if the suspect is caught, and the victim dies, its a murder charge. Thats how the law works.

When I am in KL i stay around the raja laut area. I fear even to walk across the road to the 7 eleven using the overhead bridge as I have done it once and there was like 3 people sleeping on the bridge in their car board boxes and most of them look like druggies to me. I have spent time in the mamak shops but never have i seen any police walking around. There are loads of heshe's there but no coppers.

Pemandu is still saying crime rate has dropped..by 10.1%....this is how to lie with statistics (reminds me of what my statistics prof used to tell us). Doesn't translate into reality in terms of our real-time perception of the present crime status in the country. PEMANDU “Reducing Crime NKRA” director Eugene Teh aksed the public to be “fair” (you've got to be kidding!) to the police force and give its officers due recognition (eh?) for their efforts. Speaking of effort. You see the bunch of police personnel sitting under those blue and white umbrellas and chatting away in around various spots of Subang Jaya? Might as well get cardboard effigies or window dummies dressed in cop uniform and they will serve the same purpose!

Which reminds me, how many (numbers) police personnel are actually preventing crime by patrolling the beat?

A device that will self explode on 3 seconds delay upon being snatch will be on the stores soon to counter this kind of snatch thefts...

The device will only activate upon being snatch with a Force that exceeds 10KgF - that's not too easy, nor to difficult - that one version (a self-activated explosive device).

Another version will have a decently thick chord attached to the device placed inside the bag. It will be activated when the chord exeeds the limit of 5meters (15feet), after the getaway snatch-thieve is already happily scooting away, when suddently the chord will trigger the device and explode it with blinding curry and pepper powder and prevent the culprits from escaping further.

Those who carry handbags are advised to let the bags go with the criminals, and then let the device do the job for them...
