    LINK

Handle cat litter with care.... or else you might wanna have the urge to take your own life.... had read a few links to this parasite infection and it is as scary as hell.... there was an article in the NST recently too, but can't find the link..

    Read this too

God only knows if your neighbor's cat's poo that is washed down the drain towards your house, also carries this potentially deadly parasite....

If this is so big a threat, why is the gov not having any form of control? Like licensing the cats and insisting they must be annually vaccinated like canines?

    MI also posted the same article but in addition posted this;
"Babies in dog-owning families may be healthier" in their feature column.
    http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/f...-be-healthier/

The T. gondii parasite can be dangerous but I am not sure it will really motivate suicide.
As for the dog article, it depends on where one rears the dog, in the slums, the village, around Lynas(?), the urban or the city.

You are at risk of contracting the blood parasite Toxoplasma gondii if you have close contacts with infected cats. You do not get it from food ... so please do not get paranoid or worried about having your favourite nasi lemak

Korek! Unless those nasi lemak is spiced up by pussy cats pooh, then you get infected.

Toxoplasma is a micro organism that lives in cats. It has an intricate life cycle. It is excreted by the cat with it's feces. So that is the way it comes into your garden and comes in touch with plants or fruits you eat. When you suspect cat has been digging in your garden, you should make sure you cook the fruit or vegetables.
So in fact it does not affect the food in itself.

But make sure your food caterer do not cook nasi lemak with ingredients place3d under the floor where there are pussy cats pooh or rats feces. In fact this was highlighted years back when I first posted in usj.com in various threads. Among the issues discussed was how in my previous outlet at Aman Puri, the owner of the restaurants actually not just wash its veggies on the floor where somotimes it get s dropped to the surface, but also killed livefishes by smacking on the floor full of rats and pussy cats feces! But he lets his doggie to dump his natural business on leash while talking to his workers every evening!!!

POINT TO NOTE - Rats pooh kills within days of ingestions as reported in Malaysia.

It is for the very reason to avoid contamination, food caterers are required to wash the food or dishes at least 3 feet from the surfaces - even tile or mosiac. Now the interesting question is how the heck are the food traders are allowed to operate in Pasar Malam or Pasar Puasa where it is a resort living and dumping ground by the four legged fellas?

Since those apanama folks like to use their hands to clean/wash/wipe their ass after the business… as toilet paper is still not in their dictionary !!

So, cat is the least worry.. the bare hand use to prepare the apanama nasi is !!!

Cat IS still the worrying factor
How does the cat clean itself? It uses its tongue. Licks the anal region and all over the body as well .... you like to stroke and cuddle cats? Guess where the T. gondii could come from Just remember to wash your hands after touching the cat

Now that I got cat lovers frightened ... the chance of anyone catching the parasite off the fur of the cat is really very very small. You are more likely to get it from the faeces. So do not touch cat poo

One thing that many people not notice - Cats might be licking from front to back end, you may not touch the pussy cat, but what if it lick the rear ends of the pooh side and lick you all over? Luckily they dont usually lick you all over like the doggies.

    Again, you miss the point…

As far as disease is concerned, animals including pets are not the worry if you are not in contact with them.. and you have a choice not to in contact with them..

But for those who like the apanama nasi prepared by those folks who use their bare hands to clean/wash/wipe their ass.. don’t you think they are in greater danger for contagious diseases ??

For those who like those apanama food….. have a nice day !!
