If not mistaken only watch shops stock these rarer batteries. These are special purpose batteries and not found in supermarkets or DIY places.
Just have to bow to the prices they happen to demand.
SR batteries are Silver Oxide types and last much longer than LR types more commercially available.
My digital Vernier caliper uses LR44, a very common type but SR44 is more suited, and rarely found. Last time Daiso got them, but very limited stock.
Long ago, my Tissot watch cost me Rm25 at Wata Time to replace the battery, standard charge for this type. Now use winding type watches...battery free

I know Daiso has such watch batteries but cant remember exactly the models. It's either a pack of 1 or 2 pieces for RM5. Good luck !

From past observation, Daiso got those bigger and somewhat more common ones and most of them are not for watches. Watch batteries are quite tiny compared to these popular ones.
Got some "undersized ones" which I know aren't exactly popular ones, example, Common one = LR44, they seem to have more LR43. which is slightly slimmer. Always to acquire the exact replacement type to replace the original type used. The other common one is 2032, used in PC mobo backup battery, but they seem to have more of the slimmer model which is used in some pocket calculators and portable thingys.
I suppose their sourcing dept have the faintest idea whats common and easily saleable in this land. Different market, different approach and audience.

The price is within that range and not that expensive. Don't go for cheapo brands as you may regret it when they leak and damage your watch. I changed the battery for my Longine watch at a small watch shop at SS15 costing RM15..same row as the Bah kut teh restaurants, facing the housing area and not the main road. I forgot its address..ask the shopkeepers there. There is another one facing the main road but his prices are higher and the boss is now snobbish and won't do minor repairs or fix unbranded watches.

Got stock up quite a few model of these Maxell silver oxide batteries from Jalan Pasar at about rm2-rm5 a piece. Jalan pasar always evoke feelings of substandard 'water' product...but they do have excellent quality as well. Have been changing these for family members from branded watches to rm5 pasar malam model. You must have steady fingers and a rig up of some tools if you are to attempt to do the changes . Never for the faint heart or shaky hands...
    Yearly usage of about 5 to 10 pieces. sr626 , 721 ,927 ,527 etc.

Hmmmm....too bad that sr521 isn't in my collection now...

It may not be a fake ... It may be an expired battery ...one that is on the shelve until nobody knows how long it has been there.....
Have yet to see a battery manufacturer put a shelf life on their packaging.

CCY, which shop in Pasar you buy these batteries? And do they sell a mixture of models in one pack or only by individual model only ? I have so many watches that need battery replacement every so often. Now that you mention Jln Pasar has Maxell, maybe I should go there and get them too !

The only shop I know which seem to have specialized industry batteries is a shop called Nasamas S.B.,Jalan Pasar, middle lot directly opposite a proposed multistorey building site. This is further up where some banks are located.

That shop stocks quite a wide range of silver oxide batteries . Can't point out exactly which shop is it . Maybe , on the next trip I will note down the details for diy's enthusiast's benefit.

Sound's familiar...but can't confirm. If not mistaken ...it is a shop somewhere in the row near the market where there are a lot of 5-foot way peddlers.
