I am thinking of planting a couple of dwarf coconut palm trees by the road beside my house in USJ.
I have a few questions :
1. Is it against by-laws for residents to plant trees by the roadside ?
2. How fast do these palms grow and what will be their maximum height ?
3. Where can I buy them and how much do they cost.
Reason I selected this tree is for shade (do not want it to grow too high) and no worries of too much leaves falling off that will require regular clearing.

30 years ago, I had a green dwarf coconut tree, planted at the corner. It was very fruitful but I would not say it provided a lot of shades. Problem is, people will steal your coconuts and you will not get anything. If you want shade, do not get a fruit tree. Just get a low maintenance shady tree like an eugenia plant.
