At that stage of growth, it would have been too late for the wrapping to work. For best results, wrap the fruit earlier, before they reach golf-ball size. (i would have said "wrap at marble size", but then there are so many sizes of marbles). Before you wrap, you may want to do some thinning of the fruits, and select the ones most likely to succeed.

I don't quite agree with trapping the tupais and having to commit genocide thereafter. I see the tupais as an important part of the environment, and I actually enjoy watching them scrambling to and fro in the evenings. Maybe you can be generous to allocate a few fruits for our furry little friends. Think of the trouble you save by NOT eating 300 mangoes at one go.

I agree with you that the mangos should be wrapped when they are golf ball sizes. Actually at that time, I ran out of mosquito netting and was waiting for more nettings from Boleh. ( cost of netting in Boleh is Rm$1.50 a meter, here in Kanggaroo land is Aud$3.50 a meter)

I do not have Tupi problem.

Ok lah, Maybe I will leave 10 mangoes for our little friends. But right now they are killing my passion fruit and sour sop plants.

I talked to a professional farmer and they used newspaper and plastic bags together. The newspaper is inside the plastic bag. There are punctured holes at the bottom of the bag. Guess that is the way to go.

My neighbour gave me some mangoes. Some are sweet and some are sour. They are all from the same tree.
Someone told me that the mangoes that get the sun are sweeter than those did not get the sun.
    Is this true?

Yes, they were given away freely as far as Boleh & HK.

Yes, it is true, that's why you need to trim the internal branches after harvest.

If that is the case, then it is not advisable to wrap the mango with black paper or black plastic bag to keep the insects away.
