Guilty until proven innocent. A hallmark of the World's best democracy, yeah!

    4. political or social equality; democratic spirit.
    5. the common people of a community as distinguished from any privileged class; the common people with respect to their political power.

I was reading an explanation by the young lawyer Syahrehan and it is really a "guilty until proven innocent" which basically means you need a damn good lawyer to pull you out of the mess the prosecutor will put you in! If you ask me, it is irresponsible of the BN government to have pushed this bill thru on the last day of parliament sitting in the wee hours of the morning and disallowing in some ways a thorough debate and arguments by the members of parliament. Also, I think our opposition MPs were not up to it and were themselves distracted by NFC cows and Bersih and whatever.... we are now really living in dangerous times!

My Twitter handle has been hijacked twice since June last year - I better just get a lawyer to standby!

Don't worry, ever heard of double standard? We have clear rules in this forum as well, but some just don't apply.

June 1: Black day for Internet users

    Black day for Internet users

    Quote:
"The Evidence (Amendment) (No.2) Act 2012 will come into operation in a few days on June 1."

"De facto law minister Nazri Abdul Aziz denies that amendments to the Evidence Act were a means for the government to curb online dissent"

Minister: “Under the amended Act, we shift the burden to the owner of the laptop or account so that we can get to the source"

"Despite the assurances by Nazri, an outspoken minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, the Netizens active on chat forums – as well as those who frequently forward chain mail and are addicted to Facebook or Twitter – harbour deep reservations about this newly revised law."

"The public unease plays against the backdrop of reader participation in the relatively more free-wheeling news portals as compared with traditional media which has been subjected to pervasive state control."

    You Have Been Warned!

Note: When this broke out about a month ago, I have informed ChiefMod ....that I will support whatever decision he chooses for any new guidelines for this Forum. Quite frankly, I would presume that just by having our IP's displayed may not absolve the Mods/Owners of this Forum completely.

However, my greater concern is for the vast majority of our Bolehlanders who have this habit [started out by the Telcos wayback with SMS Forward] of blindly forwarding those 'political emails' that they receive. As with those emails, many carry scandalous, often seditious extra comments which are unmoderated. With GE13 soon, these emails will increase .....and some poor soul is going to be made an example off.

Sad...Sad...It's going to be boring here soon

    Here's what happened in Thailand:

Ah....the downloaded document is not very helpful, I am afraid....

I was looking for the whole Act and its definition of terms. I am looking for guidelines to what constitute "offensive" under this Act. At least that gives one some understanding of the law and then how to get on with our net life. No use getting so worried that your life/health is affected unnecessary. There is nothing to fear if one is conversant with whatever piece of legislation and falls within its perimeters...

The original act I saw from the AG's website gave examples of theft, murder etc...but no present Net environment situations...

    Cheers!
