This case refers to some old (outdated?) Samsung models from more than a year ago...in smartphone industry that's a long time ago...
Google for the models in question.....for info the latest Samsung flagship Galaxy S3 is not on the list. It's about the US models. Sorry I am not familiar with the US telco market workings and its marketing campaigns etc. Latest: There is an appeal lodged by Samsung already...google about it..

I have posted on the other thread (http://www.usj.com.my/bulletin/uploa...Confused/page2) where I said there is a dilemna on who is aptly qualified to judge legal suits of a "brainy" nature - legal issues involving the processes of developing today's technologies and its irks. US has its jury system. Most other countries don't have a jury system. Any significance?....your thoughts..

We read (from this case) miscalculation of the total cost of penalty. We read about the jury composition (competency?). We read about the swiftness of decision. We saw the questioniare check list and the pictures of comparisons. Who then decides what is the most impeccable evaluation benchmark process in deriving a legally eloquent verdict that stands the test of time? We are only humans....not superhumans nor God! Your thoughts...

I am no lawyer so I just google and read and research and share my thoughts here.. Here's a link perhaps you may like to get a background to the legal aspects of the case and all other past cases of patents disputes....http://www.groklaw.net/index.php

Now this site has a learning curve on navigation to read all its links in an organised flow. I am still getting the hang of it. Somewhere in the middle of an article you will see an option box about chronology of threads and how to view them - flat, threaded etc. I choose flat and then click on refresh. You experiment....

I think those in the legal fraternity may find this site useful. Please read the link "About Groklaw" from this site first to fully understand the terms of usage of the site. Happy reading!

    Cheers

    iPad Mini next month?

    The pocket-sized iPad

Leaked images show off Apple's latest Mini tablet.....Read More Here>Mail Online

    Quote:
"The Apple Mini is believed to sport an eight-inch screen, making it a shrunken version of the iPad's ten-inches.
This will allow a higher degree of portability over previous models, and also give Apple the ammunition to compete with Google, which recently brought out a seven-inch range of Nexus tablets.
Apple.Pro also reports this is a 3G-capable model, meaning you can use data on the go.

I am persuading my sister in law to buy a tablet instead of a desktop. She asked whether got USB port in tablets or not. I know Ipad does not have but what about Galaxy Tab? Has it got USB port? To transfer files and to print.

I have decided to get the Asus Transformer Infinity. It has the best of both worlds; detachable screen and the full features of a notebook. I am wondering whether their screen functions like other tablets.

Galaxy "CRAP" got NO STANDARD USB port, if you want, you have to buy a connector to its "propriety" USB port.

I have stopped using the Samsung tablet and chuck it to my wifey whose has got more dainty fingers, I got CLUNKY FINGERS, so it is a mess trying to navigate - always opening and doing something else !!

I am sticking with the good old fashioned laptop !!!

Now new ultra laptops are called "phablets".....a hybrid of laptop and tablet. It uses touch technology for its screen navigation. It has a keyboard for business work. Its screen size is generally about 5-7in....comes with a virtual keyboard..

With the launch of Windows 8, the computing world is going through an exciting, competitive technological phase. Because MS products are more to business/home work, hence the need for a physical keyboard. Interesting to see the reviews of Windows 8 on these new devices...

Even Intel is playing catchup in emerging chips technology. We now have a new player , ARM, in this field. It is a leading embedded chips manufacturer for digital smartphones and tablets.

So your present laptop may be seeing its better days soon....- Invest in a hybrid device....one with keyboard and a touchscreen. For usb connectivity, Android, Windows and Linux devices are the preferred choices.

Wait awhile for these new devices to come to market and evaluate/learn about them...

    Cheers!

fonzie, I thought the phablets are `hybrids' of smartphones and tablets? For example, the Samsung Galaxy Note - a smartphone which has a larger screen than a normal phone, but smaller than a regular tablet, and has the features of both mobile devices.

I too believe - the tablet and notebook should merge into a separable ultraportable display/keyboard device crammed with all the popular I/O connections (especially USB 3.0 host and mini HDMI) - and as it stands, the Surface Pro is closest to becoming that dream gadget IMHO. Frankly, a touch screen tablet is not the ideal device for doing any work on. For playing games, browsing and entertainment, it's merely passable. Your thick finger will always hide whatever you are pointing at, (the smaller the screen, the worse it is) and when you happen to have greasy fingers....what a mess! Nope, the mouse and keyboard plus a presssure sensitive stylus for freehand drawing are still the most practical and convenient human interface input tools to work with today. Maybe when in-air hand gestures or mind control gets perfected there will be another drastic change in form factor.

    Barnes & Noble fights back!

The new 7" & 9" Nook tablets IMHO demolishes the Nexus 7 & Amazon Kindle Fire HD in hardware/price ratio and even thumbs the nose at the new iPad (AKA iPad 3).

Oohhh.....just updated to jellybean on my Asus Transformer Prime 201...!!!

    To share the upgrade process:-

    1. Goto Settings and right at the bottom "About tablet"..
    2. Press "System Firmware Update" and press check for update.
    3. If from above you see your Check update button is greyed out and the words " There is a system firmware update for your device. Please check notifications"...then congrats! your jellybean is about to be delivered!
    4. Just tap on your notification area - the taskbar on your bottom right.
    5. You'll see a green down arrow....tap on it and you will see the download progress.
    6. Just follow the instructions onscreen....

To be safe, I would suggest your device is fully charged prior to upgrade. If you have a keyboard dock, dock it too..(fully charged of course).

Initial feedback...it is faster. Browsing (using dolphin) is awesome..!

Check out your settings and discover new settings features and use (experiment) with them.....

    Cheers!

Alamak!.....something wrong with the rear camera. It is displaying green static images. Seems a number of cases occurred with Prime users after jellybean upgrades.... The front facing camera is okay.

Two remedies....one do a cold reset. The other sent it back to Asus service centre.. I sent it back to sc when the cold reset did not resolve the matter...

Just a heads up to other Prime users...

    Cheers!
