It appears I spoke a bit too soon. The Pad Infinity is finally launched. It has my ideal 1920x1200 display, and is priced at a delicious USD499 without keyboard dock. The Tegra 3 (albeit higher clocked than normal) processor is a bit of a damper for me, I was praying for a Snapdragon instead.

As far as Android Tablets go, this is the current King of the Hill, and it will stop the proposed Surface RT at USD599 dead in its tracks IMHO.

I'm banking on Surface Pro to carry the banner for Windows 8 instead.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Banned In US

US District Judge Lucy Koh has banned sales of Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet in the US while it decides on the firm's patent dispute with Apple......Samsung tablet is considered by most analysts as the biggest rival to Apple's iPad......

However, Colleen Chien, a professor at Santa Clara Law in Silicon Valley said "The relief being given to Apple here is extraordinary," "Preliminary injunctions are rarely asked for and rarely granted."...

Looks like Apple pulling all the strings to keep Samsung out

Seems like Apple got a hollow victory. It makes little difference to Samsung, the banned model is the old model. The ban does not include the current Galaxy Tab 2 10.1. Samsung will just clear the last remaining stocks around the rest of the world. Maybe can pick up one cheap cheap now?

By the way, Apple's iPads and Iphones are also on the verge of getting banned in the U.S....after being found guilty of infringing one of Motorola's FRAND patents. The ITC will be reviewing their decision this week to ban or not to ban.

    It's a topsy turvy world!

Infinity pad launched already? When will it reach our shore? Should be priced at slightly above RM2.2k (since prime is RM2199)?

Been waiting for this for sooo looong but knowing Asus distribution, should be a feat to find existing stock without pre-order.

What do you guys think of the numerous China tablets like Ainol, Cube, Allwinner ect.?

Prices are normally RM299 to RM799 but the specs are pretty impressive.

Looking at a 10.1 tab with 1.6 hz duo core processer & 1G ram costing RM799. Only negative is 8G inbuild memory, low resolution screen & questionable reliability & after sales service. But that specs & pricing, it is a bargain no?

I am also interested to know but no reply from anybody. For a few hundred, I am happy that they can last past their 1 year warranty period as technology is advancing so fast. No point paying a few times more and keep it for 3-5 years. Like my old P&S cameras, I keep several of them already.

The general impression I get from these cheap generic Android tablets is that while their specs are nice to read about, in practice they perform too unreliably to even last that `one' year of use. The display screen is usually a low cost one, and will contribute to eye strain in extended use. Poor touch screen response is another issue that makes most of these tablets a torture to use. Do not undervalue a good screen as this is your primary means of interface with a tablet - and good screens are what separates the boys from the men. Look at the new IPad...this is what all tablet screens should aspire to become. The rest of the specs I can take it or leave it.

Simply put, I would rather spend a bit more and get a useful full one year's life off something like a Nexus 7 or equivalent. I bought my Kindle Fire for around RM600....and that IPS screen quality still amazes me. Now upgraded to Jelly Bean, it will easily keep me happy for another 6 months. After that, it will still continue to serve as a reserve tablet, for browsing networked archived business documents & multimedia and most likely will morph to become my All-in-One wireless HI Fi & AV LAN based remote controller.

Maybe I should get a secondhand Ipad2 or Galaxy. However I would like a 10" size for easy viewing when I am making a presentation.

These next few months would see the launch of Windows 8 and MS tablets. Should be interesting. Wonder if present Windows phones would be able to upgrade to this OS..?

Wonder when is Google's Nexus 7 would be available in Malaysia?

Then there is expectations of the major players coming out with new tablets models in view of Windows 8 launch....

    Ah....certainly exciting times ahead....

For now, skip those China-made cheap stuff....

Apple must be getting the shivers before the year is out...

    Cheers!

Look up Sammy Notes 2, comes with a 10.1 screen & quad core. Interesting to see what is the launch price in M'sia, should be within RM1.8k to RM2.2k to compete with Asus & Ipad?

Heard Nexus 7 is the next killer tab - cheap and high specs but only available in 7 inches so not pratical for me.
