Those days were "HAPPY DAYS!".... heck, they even had Rose Chan in Bukit Bintang and Guiness Stout was the Red Bull of yesteryears....

(errr...btw, I am not THAT old!!! just remembering what my seniors (like Kwchang and SiangMalam ) had mentioned...)

but now with the 1Msia, 1Menu.... perhaps the "powders that be" forgot to add the 1BULL**** for the rest of us to swallow...

For those of you not old enuf, let me tell you that the mamak newsagent near my house used to sell Playboy legally and they had X-rated movies in the cinemas. Of course I never had the chance to read the mags or did I go to the movies becoz I was only a kid then.... but then i am digressing from the topic

    Ah...those days

It didn't last very long though...If I recall, less that a year before they were taken off. They weren't exactly X-rated like what you have today but mostly B-flicks, lots of Japanese stuff ...if I'm not wrong, it was restricted to 18 above, but nobody really cared, I wasn't of age yet, so I know!

Then they clamped down and that was the last we ever had such stuff in 40 plus years.....THEN, came the Internet

I recall that too, smack in the heart of KL, where there exist book and magazine sellers on the 5ft shop corridor, down the road from my school. The X magazines were in a special rack and sealed, only sold to adults. Don't hope for the vendor to sell to you if you're in school uniform or some minor, the vendor will NOT sell it to minors.

Well the mags were sealed to prevent OC guys ogling at the pics ....but anyone remember the "X Books"....back in the day without videos and online streaming...all we had was the word to read and fantasize

As far as I recall, these books were not sealed but bigger book shops would not sell to minors...but you could always pick them up at second hand bookstores.

again we are referring to Those Days... everyone had ethics and rules... even vendors knew somethings are not for MINORS.

Nowadays - almost everyone would sell their mother (and God only knows what else!!) for an extra ringgit! .... just go to the local mamak shop or your local grocery store and see them sell loose ciggies to school kids.... IN UNIFORM!

I didn't know any retired HM with porn mags but a well connected classmate used to bring XXX mags to the classroom. First thing the teacher left the classroom, our "biology lesson" would begin! We were never caught. And boy did everyone pay attention!

Well, if one is familiar with films of P. Ramlee era (or his films and comedy to be precise) there's scenes of locals linked with drink, bars, dance halls, revealing dress, etc.
These were common and not really an issue or hoo haa like what if it all happened today. Yes, its only a film and fictitious storyline, nevertheless its based and reflected real life in those days. Are people just more civilized, better behaved, and tolerant towards a multiracial society, perhaps thats quite true and comparing now and then, THIS LAND HAVE GONE TO THE DOGS as time progress! Absurdity and ludicrous issues continue to plague this land. No wonder we really don't get anywhere nor learn anything much. This place will remain 3rd or 4th world for a long time to come...I firmly believe! No 2 ways about it. The idea of 2020 is only a delusion to gloat and show off tallest and fanciest buildings all over the place. Most things else is stagnated, light years behind or even going backwards. Better than...Zimbab.

The "blue lagoon" was the picture that we wanna to see those days. It was as good as it gets when it was snipped of the offensive part. but a classmate of mine got the original betamax, so we get to see the blue part of Chris Atkins and Brooke Sheilds. The other movie i vaguely remember was this child actor who acted in s.w.a.l.k and oliver twist - Mark lLester. He acted in a twisted movie where he was the Peeping Tom ( cant remember the title ). But for non restrictive innocence - try to view this where it may bring back olde familiar forgotten feelings - SWALK - Sealed with a Loving Kiss - Oldies but goodies. Bersih , too! Btw, this is a tribute to Robin Gibbs fo bee Gees who just died of colorectal cancer weeks ago.

Yeahman, the good ole days where you be looking for new year for calendars especially from the automobiles and scooters shops. Best calendars should be the tyre shops where you be changinf tyres to get the see through hot stuff from Samantha Fox or some Japanese Wawawee.

Now you have ample opportunities for all those missing chances , it is just at your finger tapping tips from world wide webs.

And it is revelant to this thread as with the www.com.my to www.com.us, we have seen realities of changes that we have to embrace upon our choices and discretion. Look at China 2030 years back - all you can see is the waves of green uniform clothing with a dot of red in those gals and guys. Now you see DKNY to FCUK, Banana Republic to Guess MY?. And until today, the country is still ruled under communist and not democracy.

IMHO, if people are going to Hell for seeing and dressing indecently, that is thier choices where they have a lot of explanation to do if there are asked by God in after life. Unless if they are undressed or naked in public to arouse some sex maniacs go wild, that is another cerita. Meanwhile, if I have a body to be proud at like sexy legs or flat tummy in my fifties, I dont mind to show off how healthy I am. Unless I have a pot belly with swollen heavyweight legs, I tutup aurat.
