Beware The Super Moon May 6th

This month's perigee moon or supermoon is going to be the biggest full moon of the year and will occur on Sunday (May 6) at 11:34 a.m (0334 May 6), although the moon will still appear at its full on the day before and after.

This happens when the moon will swing within 221,802 miles (356,955 kilometers) of Earth — its closest approach of the entire year.

Hmmm... is the time stated correct? I thought 11.34am is near to mid-day, can we still see the moon?

The perigee moon will be closest to the Earth at 0334 GMT, which makes it 11.34 am here on Sunday. Those in the West, esp. US will get the best view of it as it will be night on Saturday, however we will still get a good sized view as the moon will still appear at its full on the day before and after.

Watch the NASA video to understand this.

    ps

BTW, the BEWARE is to caution on the natural, supernatural and psychological effects of a Super Moon!!

Is it true that in China ,people living in certain province are more susceptible to the effect of 'gravitational pull ' that can alter their personality at the peak moment. ?

There are nasty jokes targeting people living in a particular island in China has, demostrated more on this 'alter personality'.

For Subang Jaya/USJ residents, the best theoretical viewing time for the SuperMoon of 2012 is 12.39am May 6th; at which point we will technically be in a Full Moon phase, and it will be closest at some 351,165 km from us.

At the exact time of perigee, the moon will be ~362,698 km away from Subang Jaya, and so even if we could see it (assuming we had x-ray eyes or something like that ), it wouldn't be a SuperMoon for us. In fact, the next full moon on the 4th of June would be bigger.

5th May (or on the 15th day of 4th month in the lunar calendar) is the Vesak Day - a day that commemorating the Birth, Enlightenment and Death of Lord Buddha.

An auspicious sign in this holy day? Namo Shakyamuni Buddha, 南无本师释迦牟尼佛.

That is a superb idea, though I doubt a locked door is going to stop me should the hunger pangs hit! Be afraid. Be very afraid.
