What about NGV add-on? much much cheaper than new car, had one friend gloat about how economical it is on his aged W124 Merc, considering that fler is a real koo hon lou and running around for business matters! Google some local NGV websites and possibly the info will be of some new insight.
I would change ONLY if its somewhere in the RM50-60k level AND if I need a new car, likely smaller car to suit me. I think the hybrid car is still too expensive here to own.

Hybrid usually cost RM30k more. Assuming that you drive the car for 10 years. Can your petrol savings save that much. Besides, the premium you paid for the car can be put to better use.

Hybrid is not only about fuel savings. It is also about quietness. The car is so quiet when it stops because the engine shuts down. Even a RM500K BMW or MB cannot be as quiet as the Prius when the car is not in motion. I sat in my friend's Prius and I was amazed. Many times I wondered whether the car is on or not. Even when starting, it is so quiet.

Btw, the Prius also do a sub-10 secs so performance is there if you want it.

I have test-drived both Prius and Insight - good cars but not for me - feels like a "WOMAN'S CAR" (sorry to sound sexist but that is my first true impression) or a fancy golf cart - NO OMMMMMPHHHHHH ... I like to "feel" and have the BRUTE strength and power of the car engine and gears (I drive MANUAL cars - really hate automatics).... but then that is just me

Not true. There is no tax on hybrid cars till end of this year. So you get a Japan CBU car for about the same price as a locally assembled one.

I think Labuan also sold same price as M'sia.,i'll be recieving one by end of this week.I was chose between Altis RM113K-123K(7speed dual VVTI) and Prius ( RM146K).I finally choose the Prius for technology advancement.Pruis has been sold in Japan since 1997.and now more than 2.5 million units sold worldwide.Even the Prius C sold 130K unit in just 3 months in Japan alone,so m'sian need to wait a little bit longer.I think even Canada,Aust \. and USA just launch the Pruis C later than M'sia.

Ya lah, if you cannot dive into a corner and down gear and still toe and heel the fella at 6000rpm or more and then get out of the corner at high rev and with screeching tyres and what have you, might as well ride a bicycle...

and all in flick seconds too!...i wonder how many knows this, being brought up on auto-car immediately after the jpj test and never dove into any thing but halfbaked flooring the pedal on the run O'mill straight, along Jln Kemajuan subang and promptly crash into the armco barrier, coming outta the loop. HAHAHAH!

Backto duh topic.... Electric cars are so quiet that they r causing accidents...hitting pedestrians like ten-pins. Now many european gomen have made it mandatory that these eco-cars factory-install a recoding machine to simulate the sound?noise? humming? grunting of a REAL car! So, as a bikey, same same lah, loud pipes save lives lah.

Loud pipes makes your neighbours ANGRY...!!just like what Malaysians are now facing...duh!

There is something known as COURTESY ON THE ROAD....irrespective what you are driving, the focus is AWARENESS of things around you. And reacting in a courteous, responsible way....

Putting "musical sounds" on machines....? wat we are selling ice-creams...?! LOL!!!

LOUD PIPES or silent engines does not gives you the rights to TAILGATE a PEDESTRIAN and RAM the (poor)HUMAN...duh!

You are right. I go with you absolutely. I'm a big power fan!! No auto cars for me. Only manual! Auto cars are so sissified, IMHO. (Don't kill me, I'm just being me here ). With this hybrid thing, the power plunges down one notch lower! However, the good thing is it saves petrol. That I cannot complain!
