For iPad owners the lack of common i/o ports on the iPad itself is most likely not an issue. But for some of us fussy, hard-to-please chaps, it is an issue because it means we need to go through an extra proprietary port to get at those functions.

Apple charges a premium for on board fixed memory.....whereas I can always swap any microSD card between my digital camera, smartphone, tablet, notebook or desktop. Cheaper and more flexible use of memory, see or not?
