Awareness of Breast Cancer - Research Initiatives (CARIF) & Sime Darby Medical Centre
Community Service Announcement
I find this worthy to share with you.
The Cancer Research Initiatives (CARIF) and Sime Darby Medical Centre (formerly Subang Jaya Medical Centre) has launched a program to increase the awareness of breast cancer and uptake of mammogram screening for breast cancer. They are looking for 1000 women participants to take up their offer to do a mammogram for only RM50 (that's approximately 1/4 of the full rate!) at Breast Care centre, SDMC, Subang Jaya.
To qualify you must be a Malaysian woman, aged 40 and above, have no personal history of breast cancer and have not undergone a mammogram for the last 12 months.
I was there last Fri, 24 Feb and was given a questionnaire booklet (about 40+ questions) to fill (they need the data and statistics for research). They took some blood to run some tests and then I was referred to the doctor for brief examination. A payment of RM50-00 is made to the reception counter followed by the mammogram. All in, it takes about 2 hours. They will give you a chit to collect the results 3 working days after the mammogram is done.
I have checked and was informed that they have about 73+ participants as of last Friday. If you are interested, please contact the Breast Care Centre at 03- 56391340 (Mondays to Fridays - working hours) to make appointment and the mammogram is carried out in the afternoon only.
For info, Sime Darby Breast Care Centre is located at 1st Floor of the Outpatient Block.
You may want to pass this to your spouse, mum or share with your friends.
