Asus Transformer Prime and Galaxy Tab 7.7

I am interested in getting a tablet. Perhaps folks here may offer some insights...

I am deliberating between an Asus Transformer Prime and a Galaxy Tab 7.7.

    Any help is most welcome...

PS: Is there a Galaxy Tab 7.7 version without phone connectivity...?

    Cheers!

Has weighed them......no sorry, not into Apple technology...
New ipad?...looks like very lukewarm response so far.....

Much prefer Windows/Android stuff.....easier interconnectivity and at much cheaper cost....-

    Cheers!

Cheaper? The transformer prime is RM2,100 vs. Ipad RM1,699. Anyway if you have not gotten your prime you r out of luck, no stock whole of KV until the new 'infinity pad' come out (June/July?)

BTW Asus Prime > IPad HD - no contest unless u r Apple fanboy or on tight budget

Bought a Transformer Prime recently....loving it...!

    Initially, it was problematic...
    1. Couldn't charge the tablet and dock....it was the power adapter. You have to align the "flat" side of the triangle parallel with the rectangle block adapter. Becareful of the tiny pins...though..

    2. After charging, couldn't boot up! You have to detach the tab from the dock. Then press the power button for about 5 seconds until you feel a vibration on your finger. Then let go and the screen would slowly come alive..

Thanks to All IT Hypermarket personnel at Lowyat and Ikano for the assist.....!!!

To folks who have Android tablets, here's one site to share info...

Remember to bookmark it. Bet you'll love every bit of it....!!!

    Cheers!

Just over the weekend PCFair in MidValley, wifey wanted to get one of those ipad kind of tablet. Not really wanting to buy one cos, not sure what to do wif it. So, didn't mind just get one chepo one and play wif it to learn what it can do... So got one made in China one, cheapo RM299 running Android 4.0.3 (just about the latest). Latest is Andriod 4.0.4 (ice-cream Sandwitch). Haha, all this terms is like greek to me. So forced to find out what all these flavours of Andriod... A bit of history here... History of Andriod versions At first, the booklet (so called manual) says the version is Andriod 2.3.4 Froyo. Not knowing what is that either... hahaha! Went find out that the version installed was 4.0.3 (not too bad for a start).

Story short... 7 inch tab, with 4Gb built-in storage, running ARM a7 processor (the one used for phones as well). This version only with built-in WiFi, so no 3G connectivity to phone (hence no need to subscribe to phone data line), just tumpang on any Wifi/hotspot (if available). Otherwise, its good for browsing, play games, read news. Lotz of downloadable apps from google (free). Some apps will need to pay lar... some like $0.99, $1.99 etc.
You can download skype and use skype (for communications) skype to skype phone is free. Skype download is also free.

This one has camera (web-cam built-in) no camera like phone cam. mini-usb, micro HDMI port (for connection to your LCD TV for displaying HD video from Tab, downloaded videos). Not sure what battery it uses, but I played with it whole day 9 to 5, need to charge by then.

So, depends on what you want. If like me just want to learn and play wif it before investing in a real good one, this is one cheapo way - hehe! Well, at least for a start. Anyway, for RM299, do not expect a lot from it lar! So far, i think it's worth it already... This one does not come with bluetooth, but has slot for TP Card (also know as microSD card... again another learning point). Extendable 8Gb (some supports 16Gb).

Hope this might be helpful for u and anyone wishing to get one cheapo 'ipad' as a starting point. Ipad is not cheap, why waste the money when that may not be what you want to begin wif.

Android ICS already offers more than what is coming in iOS 6

Appears that Apple's iOS 6 new features and functions is not so new after all, now that such features already exist on platforms like Android's Ice Cream Sandwitch and Windows Phone. So, Android is the way to go if you want to be in the 'politically correct' platform simply because Android is running 'open code' compliant operating system. Do not be enticed with those expensive and proprietary os's - they will cost dearly to maintain.

Despite announcing it's 200 new features, Apple says that these new features will have to wait until the 4th Qtr.
