    Thumbs down Please do something

Please review the traffic light system along Jalan Tujuan..
The mess has caused a messy traffic jam on Monday, entrace to Subang all the way to USJ 4.

They should allow the traffic light on the main flow to stay green for a longer period.

Monday was an exceptional day. The bad jam was caused by a van that broke down in the middle lane just before the SS 17 pedestrian crossing. I was caught in that jam when I used that stretch at 7.50pm. I was told that it was already there at around 6.30 pm. I use this stretch everyday. Last Monday for this week, I timed the lights and noticed that the green for traffic going straight and U-turning now enjoy only 60 seconds of green but have to wait a whooping 125 seconds when it turns red. That may partly contribute to the normal jam unlike that reported on last Monday. Prior to that, it was 100 seconds green at the expense of those coming from USJ 9 and 11 such that in the morning peak hour, traffic backlogged up to New Apollo Coffeshop. You can help to regulate the flow by timing the red or the green lights from your respective approaches and report them here. Also let me know the time of the day and how bad the jam is. I shall then provide the feedback to MPSJ. It is a matter of balancing the timing now since everybody has got the feel of the new system.

Together, we help to solve our own community problem.

    Hi Luke,

Too bad, looks like we have to face the same problem whenever our fellow resident's car breaks down.

This is expected to be worst with time. A year, 5 years or 10 years from now. The only progress we can expect are road windening projects consistantly spreaded at regular interval, hiring consultants to keep the economy going and at the same time show us that something is done. Are this sincerely a solution? Can this situation be solved even if half or 3/4 of Subang Jaya & USJ are flattened & converted into roads?

Just ask ourself an honest question. 'can this situation be solved if there is no public transport system planned for the near future?'

Do anybody in the ministry ever suggest to make a study to find out whether the amount of exportable fuel wasted in the traffic jam (not to mention of the pollution, valueable time wasted, the wear & tear in us as well as our vehicles etc.) cost as much as the subsidy for running nation's public transport system?

Public transport system in Malaysia can be large enough to create enough employment too & does not confine to factory limit in term of employment capacity.

If business is the priority in this country then we should embark into this too. At lease the majority can enjoy from it.

thelaw is right on the public transport bit... malaysia is far, far, far behind! and no one could be bothered to pick up on it. for years it's been stagnant if not deteriorating.

the authorities are dead asleep on this issue.

malaysia is the only country i've heard of where a car breakdown causes widespread traffic james.

most countries have a highway patrol, town council patrol, or the police rush in and remove the vehicle immediately, so as to not block traffic.

but we only have that in 'private' roads like KESAS where you have to pay for such service.

    ridiculous!

    one question mr pcyeoh

you are from zone 3, why you bother so much for usj3 and 4 which is not under your area

from your posting, you told us your jkp is the one that got mpsj to it one way street in usj17

now it's left in a mess for one month, no enforcement

now you sibuk with zone 2

why dont you concentrate to get mpsj to enforce the one way street in usj17 first before you campur tangan in zone 2

take care of your backyard first lah my friend, dont be kpc

    Live in USJ23 - Robert
And that's the bottom line cause Stone Cold said so!

can always look at things from two perspectives.

yes it can be said it was unfair of him to say that.

on the other hand, i can understand that he's upset that some police officials make it their point to "talk" about cleaning up everywhere else other than their own backyard, which is where he probably resides. so it's understandable.

    "good things start at home".

ok, please advise correctly, which jkp should come forward to help solve the usj17 oneway street problem - making the signages more clearly and getting mpsj to issue tickets for road foulers.

which jkp? zone 1 or zone 2 or zon 3 or zone 27?

please the party who started the problem come forward to solve the problem , now we don't know which jkp to go to.

i am sure the residents would send them flowers if they finish their mission, and not leave the one-way street chaotic like that.

please do something, like luke say.

    terima kasih terlebih dahulu... ampun

Rome was not built in a day. When JKP Zon 3 proposed that the street be made one way, MPSJ have to redraw the lines to create more parking bays. If the contractor engaged chosed to stop for reason known to them, the most we could do is to highlight it to MPSJ which we actually did. We even suggested painting white conspicuous arrows on the road as many said they "don't look up" to notice the road sign which was just poor excuses. While all these are being done, the police was also informed about those who were disregarding the one way street system and the Shah Alam OCPD himself said he would look into it. And we have even reminded them. Until and unless the parking bays and the white arrows are completed, we think we shouldn't press too hard for its enforcement yet. This all boil down to the attitude of the errant road users. Some of them ought to be shot. So just give the authority some time. If this one way system is such a bad idea, let us revert it back to the free for all system.

I am also trying hard to crack my head when I am accused of kpc in Zone 2 affairs. Tell me how I can travel from USJ 12 directly to the Federal Highway without passing through USJ 3 and 4. I am acting as a individual road user and I have every right to bring the problem up with MPSJ.

    Angry

the constant mess up with the traffic proves there is something Severely Wrong with the traffic authorities, be it the people who plan these things, and those who fix them.

malaysia is the only place i've heard of whereby traffic and roads constantly need fixing.

fix the administration first! with good leaders and official come efficient systems, traffic or otherwise. and as it stands with failure after failure with subang jaya's traffic, the leadership stinks.

with the same incompetent monkeys around who build roads so they can make bucks from the contracts, they're not going to care if you take 10 minutes or hours to get to work.

frankly they're more than happy if they have another excuse after another to build more roads.

fire them and fix the public transport and we won't be sitting here complaining like this.

i don't know which authority does not consider improving public transport to ease congestion. are they so blind they can't see that people are forced to drive because of the crap, irregular metrobuses and zealous taxis?

we need some leaders with integrity who are willing to sit through the buses and traffic jams like the rest of us. someone like ken livingston, mayor of london. (he takes the Bus and underground, and does not have a driver. he's a man i Respect.) not some hot shot who waltzes into the office, chauffer driven in his black tinted mercedes benz at 10.30.

then again, a person like that would like it if we complained bout the traffic. gives more of an excuse to widen the roads, reroute, or build more roads! brilliant.

    people. we're being had.

and let's face it, all this talk about rerouting traffic here and there is just wasted breath and time. who's an expert? not you, me or anyone. you may reroute something an ease congestion, but god knows if further up a bottle neck occurs. all this talk about rerouting traffic in subang jaya/USJ has gone on for more than a decade. we've solved nothing, just pushed the problem around our township, moving the clogs about.

bring out the real pros and do some Serious Planning.

I would says that at least we have some jkp that are willing to put their spare time and effort to better the place we all call home.

PC, thank you for the effort you put forth, eventhough sometime you may thinks that your are doing it for yourself, but, you are indirectly help many others in the same situation.

A pat on your own shoulder please

i dont want to sound racist here but it is so easy for mr pcyeoh to put blame on the contractor. are you saying all malay contractors are not efficient?

how can you say the contractor i. "chosed to stop for reason known to them", ii. "Until and unless the parking bays and the white arrows are completed"?

mr pcyeoh, you are not telling the truth. for your information, the contractor has infact finished the parking boxes more than two weeks ago!

their signages also follow mpsj measurements and specification. they follow the contract details.

the contractor just follow instruction from mpsj (don't think only you got connection with mpsj, other people also have information) the instruction given to contractor is to put up the red "no entry" siganages, the blue "jalan sehala" signages and draw the yellow boxes. they completed all these more than two weeks ago, stage by stage.

the contractor did not get any instruction to draw white arrows on the road. where you got the information? can you show proof mr pcyeo that mpsj has put the white arrows as part of their contract?

it's so easy to blame these malay contractors, dont you?

now back to my question, you said your jkp got mpsj to implement the oneway street. fine, we support. now the signages are there, the parking boxes are there, the chaos are there, who is going to solve the problem?

come on lah, dont twist and turn, just answer one straight question ok? is your jkp going to do anything at all? yes or no?

to make the oneway street a success, you need to i. put up the instructions and signages sufficiently, ii. publicise it adequately, and iii. enforce it with no delay.

the contractor finished no. i. already. no. ii. and no. iii. are your responsibility, and mpsj's responsibility.

    no i. is already done.

no ii. for low cost publicity why not put up big banners for one month announcing to people they need to follow oneway street street (right now the red and blue signages are not noticed easily (may be just an excuse, whateverlah) you are talking about human being, they need educating and conditioning.

no iii. try to put a few mpsj enforcers there for a few days, issue summons and see what happen.

you remember, last week they came and seal off three restaurants there, all the operators clean up their restaurants immediately.

mr pcyeoh, dont putar belitlah. dont blame our malay contracotrs so easily. it is so easy to point fingers at our people, but make sure your facts are right.

you are jkp from this zone, your jkp started it all, make sure your jkp finish it also. nobody is saying we dont appreciate it. it is you and a few out there who twist and turn a small issue.

personal comments aside, i agree with pelapor's point that if there are sufficient signs to say that the road has been converted to a one way street, and if the proper traffic signs are up, people should comply.

knowing our dear countrymen who don't give a hoot for traffic consideration, they don't. the cops have to come in and enforce, at least for the first few weeks so as to ensure things run smoothly. if not the one way street was a total waste of flippin time.

a lot would be solved if malaysian drivers weren't such arses.

The usjXpress Team received emails which say, so far, the authorities have yet to enforce the new traffic ruling.

One month after the "Jalan Sehala signs" were up, chaotic traffic condition persists.

Taking the cue from conflicting views in the web forum, the usjXpress Team dispatched its team to capture on-the-scene photos.

Treat it as a leaf off the chapters of local governance.
