Thumbs up "New" Look Forum - like or not ?

So, this is our Xmas gift from KWChang and the Admin team - new look and version of forum software !!

    Personally, I like it !!

    Do you ?

PS: I also kay-poh to "test" the polling feature .... so far, I have found one "bug" where the SMILIES are not working ... (i.e. you have to type in - you cannot click on the button) - but I remember all the symbols !!

BTW, I thought we are getting SOME NEW smilies ?

My gratitude to Ho, our Tech Guru for his hardwork in upgrading the Forum engine. He did it while I was offline and by midnight last night, I found the forum up and running with the new engine.

There will not be any major differences since the vBulletin system essentially is the same system. There are however subtle changes as you will find for example a better tool-set when you type your new post to the forum.

Thanks to currymee for putting up the polls. He knows this system so well that he already noticed the "newlook" even though the engine had preserved the colors and settings of the previous arrangement. Well done CM, you are sure one very observant user !!

I am sure we will find new things as we use it and I apologise for the missing smilies as I have yet to really go deep into the system to tweak it up. At the moment clicking on the smilie does not translate into a smilie on yr post .. I will try to sort that out.

Do let me know either by PM or email if you find any problems.

    Yes, I like it!
    1. There's the Visitor Message which is very useful!
    2. And then, there's the multi-quote. I used to have to open up several tabs just to quote and reply to several posts. So, yes, a useful feature.

    However:
    1. A feature to comment on a particular post would be useful. One can comment "Like" or "I concur" or "I disagree" on the post. Only the user can view such a post. Very useful, if one's PM capacity is limited.
    2. Also, when replying to a post, I like to use the TAB key on the keyboard which takes me right to the message box. Instead of clearing the field, I see this - Please click one of the Quick Reply icons in the posts above to activate Quick Reply. ~~~ Sorry, I just discovered that the quick reply doesn't work. I managed to post only when quoting someone's post and editing it.
    3. The preview doesn't show up with the "Advance" function.
    4. Smilies don't work anymore.
    5. PM box still caps at 70?
    6. The multi-quote doesn't work.

I just discovered that you MUST click the POST REPLY at the bottom of the page in order to reply a post. The quick reply icon on each post doesn't work. Hitting TAB will take you to the Message Box but you still have to click on the POST REPLY. No wonder I couldn't preview my message earlier. ALT S still works. *grins*

Mr Chang, what's the "Edit Tag" for?

This morning, some of you saw the upgrade from ver 3.0.3 to ver 3.8.7
Since it was still in the 3 series, there were liitle differences
Then in the afternoon, Ho upgraded it further to ver 4.1.9 which is of course a major change as you can see
Some of you would have found the forum shut down in the afternoon when Ho was upgrading

Let me know if you like the default grey tones used in standard vBulletins ?
In our former forum, I had changed the colors to warm tones ... do you want it to go to the warm tones like before?
I prefer a cheery happy look (warm tones) compared to grey. Let me know

Changes will take some time so bear with us.
As I had said earlier, I will be busy the next few days, so I will work on the forum on and off
