    There are too many colours.
And they are too bright, especially the main yellow colour.
May be suitable for an ad billboard but is too glaring for a forum page.

Mr C ... looks like practically nobardy is satisfied with the latest presentation ... so, could you revert to the previous, tried and tested version?

I think you need to be specific. You are taking upon yourself to make a request I don't think reflect the majority's opinion. The majority like the new format - they just don't like the colours and the grey font... but you are asking to revert back to the old version.... there's no mandate for that given to you, or is there?

I think for the forum to fully capitalise and utilise the new features of the software, it may be best to continue in the new current format and version. We just have to adjust to it, just think of it like upgrading to a new version of Windows OS but you can have the 'original" Windows 3.1 colour scheme (like what I have now on my PC - Windows XP (2005) but with the Windows 3.1 colour and windows look & feel scheme (1995) - too familiar to let go) )

Personally, I think some of us have a "soft spot" for the old forum's colour scheme and font type, so perhaps, we can get the BEST OF BOTH WORLD, new format & version (with all the new bells & whistles) but in the old "forum" identity colours and font (aesthetics) - kind of like our corprorate colour/font branding ?

    Just my 2 cents ...

Wow...new Christmas gift from USJ forum! Great! Good job folks

    Some thoughts:-
    1) color is fine by me
    2) more smiley icon would be good
    3) the Vbulletin logo should be replaced by USJ Forum logo
    4) the quick reply box, should be a little bigger, which would minimize the scrolling, when typing and reviewing.

    thats all for now

The continuous tweaking of the colours are getting better and better.
Just need to balance the weightage of the set of colours to make it soothing to the eyes.
IMO, the yellow background colour is still too strong. Still need to tone it down.

As part of my contribution, I'll post my mock-up version later (still working on it) for Mr. Chang's consideration.

I fully understand about the colors
    - I see most of the users prefer the old version's colors - this means no blue-grey default which is found in other forums

hahaha, the other forum admins just used the default colors and saved themselves a lot of headache. When we got ver 3.0.3, I did not like the default colors so I personally tweaked the colors until I got what I thought was right. That was the old colors everyone liked and hoped we can go back to it

However, unfortunately, we do not have the same color settings like the old version. In this new version, I could not find the switches that they had in the past. If I did, I would have reverted it to the past colors. Furthermore, this new version could not import the previous settings for the forum template since there are major changes which disallowed a simple conversion from past formats.

As I had said, I am unable to work on the new engine this week due to my schedule for other matters. However, I promise to get us back to the old colors but I need to study the new engine more to find the right tools.

So, please bear with it for a week or 2 and I will try my best.

Good points and here are my promises that I hope to fulfill ...
    1) explained above
    2) this new engine allows us to add new smileys. I will find legal free ones to upload but this will be done after I finish withmore urgent requests
    3) I will investigate how to set the tab logo
    4) the "quick reply" is usually a small box because quick-replies are usually short messages. However, there are many ways you as the user can make the box larger -
    • the quickest way is to click on the tab with the square logo in the top right hand corner of the forum window. This is to expand yr view to full screen and if you have a large screen, you will get a bigger reply box as the screen expands
    • or you could put the cursor to the bottom right corner of the reply window (there are some diagonal lines in that bottom corner), click on that corner and pull it down - that enlarges the input window

Here's my proposed set of colours for consideration:

Here's the mock-up of forum page using the colour schemes above:

The new look looks peachy and cheery. Has a nice friendly look to it, softer and more like a chat module too.
Insecurity is unattractive. Smile and the whole world smiles with you.

1.....The post Date , Time , Number is hardly visible. White text over on light orange background isn't that good a contrast. Choop's example would be good example.

2.......Where's the report bad post button...? Or I miss it...

3..... IP number not shown all the time ....hmmmmm... Harder to catch or snare those clones now....

    Suggestions:

    1. Letters for posting date and time barely legible due to insufficient contrast between letters and background. Changing letters to black would solve the problem.

    2. The light grey background for text should be changed to a darker shade of grey, to cushion the impact of the bright colours.

    KW,

    FYI - aesthethics comment.

When the forum main page lists the members online, the list will over-shoot the allocated space into the margins.
