BM did experience an increased in standard and higher passing rate but not anymore due to the advent of sms, fb and rampit lingo.
Currently the most difficult and astronomical marking standards is the SPM Chinese paper!

Standard definitely dropped and will continue to drop…

When NEP was introduced 40 years ago, special quota was given to them albeit poor results. However, academic and exam standard were able to maintain because they are sent to overseas and they are not many overall.

When more and more of them can achieve the minimum entry requirements in local uni, and with the recent “made-in Malaysia meritocracy system“ introduced to local varsity, something has to be done to increase the numbers of straights A students in order to paint a picture that they are equally many straight A students among the blessed one compare to the neglected one.

This is the main reasons the sharp increase of multiple A students..

Nowadays, as far as one can read and write, there will be a suitable course in a local/private uni awaiting, either pay by parents or tax payers..

When all of these highly qualified kids find their way into the job market, how many decent positions will be waiting for them?
Decent in terms of their work being rewarding in aspects other than just the salary.

Perhaps some of these highly qualified out of work financially cramped graduates will work it out, become caring politicians and do something about it.

When you see a 28 year old double PHD selling flowers in the market and exercising dogs in her spare time to make a measly $400 per month, still living with parents, cannot afford a car, you have to ask yourself what happened to common sense, or is it the parents, the schools or the (world's) governments that are at fault?

Err Buddies...1st day at the school...
As expected...Orchi was informed that the school put up around 100+ "straight 7As" students...
    in 3 classes...
    Class A...B n C...(Science stream)...
Whilst little Orchi is being put up at Class D...(Science stream)

Tewwible school system does not appreciate those students who scored equally 7 As(of compulsory subjects) + 1 B of additional subject...in the recent PMR examination...
n whom had taken up upon themselves...
the extra efforts n courage to sit for additional exam subjects...

Blows the freaking mind out of Orchi on this matter...

It does not matter if ABC or D or E.
Childhood is so short these days, everybody pushing kids this way and that, really dumb.
Why can't people, teachers and parents, accept that everyone is different, everyone learns at a different pace in their own way.
Some will be factory fodder, some will manage, some will own.
It is more important to be content with one's self and that is possibly the hardest thing to learn.
People who know themselves will do better, maybe in their own eyes only but if they are happy so what?

During my own schooldays my parents were always told "He could do so much better if he wanted to". Well bullshit, i was doing what i could do at the time and no amount of homework or tuition would have changed that.
I did ok at school for one reason only, i loved to read, i read anything and everything including the cornflake packet.

Teach children to be true to themsleves, everyone knows the little voice in the head that tells the truth.
Teach them that while driving the paid for 3 series BMW, laugh at the idiot with the multi year car loan driving the X6 BMW.

Well said, Hillary. Unfortunately, many parents were fully understand this but no one will follow. Then all this parents send their children to this so called " elite school " just for showing off. There are so many workers in my company are actually graduated from this schools but i do not find any different if compared to others. The only thing i found from them is sellfish, ego , like to find shortcut. and etc. For me, i'm more respect to those school who accept any type of students, good or bad, clever or slow, rich or poor, this is called " education ". If you are dragon, you go everywhere also a dragon.

I think it is not about A/B, it is about fairness, it is about psychology impact to the children, it is hurtful for the students, at our time we don't have to deal with this kind of 'game'. If u have not gone through it, you may not understand how a child feel. The students have a set of moral value they believe in, what happened definitely not in line with the moral value they have learnt - be fair.

Orchi, hope your kids get good teachers.

Orchi, I can feel the agony and frustration from your words..

It is indeed a big blow to hardworking innocent students and the law-abiding, tax-paying parents.

It happened to me before, went thru the same agony and frustration before when I failed to get any scholarship from federal and state government despite a good result… and this was 30 years ago when NEP was at the prime.

Tell your son – this is the reality of life living in this land. There will be more heart-breaking experience in studies life and all aspects of working life later.

Ask him to prepare himself for a global career . There is always opportunities and reward for someone who is positive and well-prepared. Ask him to contribute his talent and tax money to the place that recognize him without all these man-made discrimination..

    Cheers

FYI,Seafield in Form 1 has 40plus pupils with 10 classes, but i choose Subang Utama with only 4 classes and 30plus pupils, but nowadays the criteria of sending your child is base on alamat unless their elder ones are presently studied in that school.

I don't think having siblings in the school is accepted as a reason for entry. When my daughter was in Std 6, I found out that it is not considered if we chose her school based on the enrolment of her elder brother. The house address is the deciding factor. That was 6 years ago ... maybe they have changed the rules again?
