    I forgot to mention this - some of you who tried and got bad results was probably due to the wrong flour. Yes, you need high protein flour which is also labelled as tepung roti. If I am not wrong this has more gluten and hence gives it the right texture. Do note that wholemeal flour is low on gluten and if you use it exclusively, you will get a very hard bread. I only use something like 30-50gm of wholemeal flour with 400-420g of high-protein flour... hahaha, now you know how little wholemeal flour is used by bakeries unless it is the very coarse wholemeal loaf.

    And BTW, in order to get the soft fluffy bread like the commercial brands, you need to add stuff to soften the bread. The reason we make our own breads is because my wife wants to avoid all these artificial additives and preservatives you get in commercial loaves

    No need to use artificial additives. Just use Dutch Lady Full Cream Milk. I was told those will soften bread.

    I have but it made not much difference. I now add 3 tablespoons of Full Cream milk powder (Nespray) but no real difference to the loaf. Some recipies include a teaspoon of olive oil but that too made no difference for me.

    Tesco breadmaker

    Has anyone used a Tesco breadmaker? I heard it is good and is priced around RM199

    OK..Here goes..

    I am no baker and no chef either. Bought the Kenwood BM 450 @ RM 750 last month and we have baked like 12 loaves successfully so far

    It has 20 programmes...( believe, I f can make bread, so can you. So far we have tried like 3 programmes...and to me, the programme 6 was most successful and fills the whole house with that freshly baked bread homey aroma everytime a bread is done

    I have been using BMS high protein flour, mixed with wholemeal flour...follow the rest of the recipe`s ingredients, and I only use Dutch Lady fresh milk. In addition to my `wholemeal` loaf, I have also added in Raisins, pumpkin, sunflower and sesame seeds too. Sundried tomatoes are also nice too.

    Just baked one...hmm...

    Just contributing my recent acquisition - got a Toshiba Microchip Rice Cooker.

    It...

    1. Bakes Cakes
    2. Makes Bread
    3. Convinced me due to Pua Choo Kang supporting it, LOL, not really

    It works as stated and instead of getting a dedicated Breadmaker, a multi-in-one appliance seems practical.

    Best of all, I use it to cook Rice daily, so it is always in use!
