It will not be cheaper, it will be based on normal rate instead of insurance company imposing higher premium for old cars plus forcing driver to buy PA,etc..
However, nothing comes for free.. now the old car owner has to send to Puspakom for road worthiness inspection... meaning more income to Puspakom and you can expect long queue at Puspakom.

actually going to puspakom is not that bad. the one and only time i went there last year was to get the 9 year car inspected before buying it. got to the one in pandamaran at 7:30am waited for it to open at 8am. got it inspected and approved in less than half an hour and hassle free for rm40. if get runner, have to pay rm200!!

You forgotten that you need to take 1 day leave for this! If you are earning RM160 per day... it will come to be the same of engaging a runnerbummer, i thought can get cheaper insurance coz my car will be 10 years old this year

Is it compulsary to go to Puspakom ?
Honestly, if I don't mind having to pay RM50 extra premium for insurance IF I can forgo wasting time at Puspakom that costs RM40.

Seems to me if you don't want to be loaded + added extra coverage for natural disaster like flood or maybe earthquake , tsunami , to your insurance then go for the inspection....Is it compulsary to go to Puspakom ?

I just checked at the post office and they have at least 3 companies selling 3rd party insurance. Only one company makes it mandatory for inspection. I did not ask which one. Anyone, you need to bring the registration card and the old insurance policy there.

If I'm not mistaken, the Puspakom checking is only when one buys a new (used) car.
Hence before the title name change at JPJ, Puspakom check should have been done.

That "inspection' is just to verify the engine and chassis number; something that hire-purchase officers of banks used to do for free.

What I mean is that this new inspection is supposed to be for road-worthiness and will definitely cost more than RM 40.

Went to Puspakom today at 12.15 pm and they closed the door! I thought it was supposed to be 12.30 pm! I bought a Kembara for my wife so needed the inspection for transfer. Next month, the price will go up to $90!! In Thailand, I paid $15 for the same check-up!!
