A friend of my friend has been robbed. Some robbers came pretending to deliver a hamper. Unfortunately she wasnt home and her mom happily opened the door to let the bogus delivery men in. Immediately out came the parangs and those who were in were robbed!

So be very careful especially with the Chinese New Year round the corner. I would suggest the following cautions be taken:

1. Ask whom the hamper is from.
2. If suspicion is aroused, asked delivery man to leave hamper in front of main door. Complete whatever transaction via the grill. Collect the hamper only after delivery people have left.
3. Alternatively, asked for the name and phone of vendor of hamper and make a phone call to verify. Better to be late than sorry!

ps. I was told that they even use the female gender as delivery people to catch you off guard.
