    Battery disposal

When I asked the paper lama man, they only collect car batteries.

Is there an easy way to properly dispose these batteries here in Malaysia:
    a) normal alkaline batteries
    b) cellphone batteries
    c) notebook computer batteries

I feel so guilty when I have to throw in into my regular trash bin.

Susah case lah, especially in Malaysia. I really don't know how hazardous items are really done away with or what standards are in place here.. anyone knows?
I could assume most people, if not all, just throw them like any other trash.
Perhaps battery importers, distributors and manufacturers should be taken to task on this. Perhaps this should be it for any other products that are deemed enviromental hazards. But then comes the question of plastic products.. this is another headache.

Not only used batteries. You have those used florescent tubes as well. Guilty also for dumping into the normal bins.
What else can be done. Keep it in the backyard...till there's a facility being set up ? Would be happily resting 6ft under by then.........

Rocket it all to the next galaxy...if thats possible. If not, the world is being poisoned more and more. Sad when thinking of it all.

    Disposing batteries

I send my used small batteries to the USJ6 (at the field by the roadside) and USJ11/2 (facing Petronas) Tzu Chi Buddhist Society's recycling points. They do collect and have the means to recycle them.

Maybe we shud put a sticky on this place collecting used batteries... At least word can get round so that we don't simply throw away batteries which is toxic to the environment..

was pleasantly surprised to see that IKEA in Toronto has a recycling centre for lights and batteries.

Am sure that since IKEA is the same all over the world, they will have to introduce something similar to KL soon.

Perhaps it is worth emailing/calling them to let them know that the time to implement is now.

Alternatively, there are a few green tech recyclers in the KL area.

    Cheers, m
