Lawyer expert in handling medical negligence

    Hi Forummers,

My mum's eye was perforated during anesthetic procedure for cataract removal. Anyone can recommend a lawyer who is expert in handling medical negligence cases?

I need some advice regarding how to handle this medical negligence case. Am also worry about her eyesight as the eye specialist does not handle the procedure well in the first place.

In a cataract operation, one must perforate the eye in order to replace the lens. Your statement here did not show negligence.

Thank you for the note. The cataract removal is done under local anesthesia whereby the dr applied a needle injection under the eye. In my mum's case, the needle was punctured too deeply that it enters the eye ball and injured the blood vessels and nerves. This caused pain, redness, and swelling of the eye. Due to this complication, the actual procedure took 2 hrs instead of a 20mins.

The dr is not very helpful and I felt that she just try to keep us away. She also raised her voice while talking to us. What an attitude she has when she actually is the one who created the accident.

Thinking that I have the right as a carer, I went to the admin of the hospital to make a complaint after that.

Would appreciate if I could get some lawyer advice about this case.

Speak to another specialist and seek a second opinion and preferably don't mention its for a possible negligence suit. These doctors protect each other. Only after you know the full story from a second opinion, then only decide.

Its normal Dennis, for us to feel angry and aggravated when we feel the op of our loved ones go awry. Calm down and seek a second opinion and bring your Mum go see another specialist first.
