Traffic Light Illegal U Turn USJ 4

3 Days ago, i was travelling out along USJ 4 on the left lane at a moderate speed. A new Kancil car bearing a Johor plate, took an illegal u-turn i supposed and came straight to my lane. An accident nearly occured, so close...I stepped on my brakes and my car skidded a little..

Then we stopped and he start shouting at me but after 2 seconds, i perceive that this arguement will be un-fruitful, so i drove off in peace. Apparently, a BMW stopped infront of the kancil , came down and shouted at the driver too for his carelessleness and taking an illegal u turn at the traffic light..

Just a precaution for everyone, beware of such drivers...
and stop taking illegal u turns and rushing towards people's lane..

could some lawyers please confirm the definition of illegal u-turn.
my understanding is that as long as there is no gazetted and expressly indicated prohibition there is no wrong. i once had a lawyer challenge the traffic cops on my behalf to state the statute which spells out where a u-turn may or may not be made but that poor senior chap declined. maybe its because there is no such law.

legalities aside, when u drive, u must always think of every other vehicle near u as being handled by an idiot who's out to scare the hell out of u. every other car includes
those in front (they stop suddenly or change lanes without notice)
those beside (they change lanes cos they can never see the vehicles beside them)
those behind (they can't see your brake lights or their brakes suddenly not working)
those opposite direction (they change direction suddenly or they try to avoid an animal)
those not in the above categories (they could not see the runway in their ufo or they thought your car lights were the lights of their landing pad)

    Joker,
Don't need a laywer for this one.
Correct me if I am wrong..the illegal u turn mentioned by Luke.. must be the traffic lights
    coming towards USJ from SS19.
There is an explicit sign that shows no u turns allowed.
I also nearly got knocked a few times by these
    illegals..
    We need more Polismen..

It is next to impossible to erect traffic signboards to say what can and cannot be done on the roads. So they have this escape clause which can be used anytime to plug the loopholes. It is "dangerous driving" I kena one and argueing with the police is of no use. Instead of getting a compoundable summon, I was slapped one that needed my presence in court. There was a secret marking on the summon that labelled me short of being a terrorist. So whatever valid reason I had was totally disregarded by the magistrate who saw the marking. In the end after spending the whole day waiting for my case to be heard, it was over in just 3 minutes. I was slapped with the maximun fine of RM100.00. Did I get a discount? No...no lah....that didn't happened recently. It happened when I was a terror on my bike in the 70s.

The best remedy to arrest this kind of inconsiderate action of making a U turn at traffic lights is to blast your horn to show these jokers (no referrence direct or indirect to joker2107) your utmost displeasure. But first make sure that the offender is not a road bully in the making or else you will be blasted in the end.

if u r familar with s'pore roads u wud hv noticed that traffic light junctions with dividers are normally marked for u-turns. its only in msia that there's so much hoo hah over u-turns at traffic lights. its not cos of safety reasons, just the nuts behind the street design who let traffic flow from all directions at the same time. and for the sake of drivers who wrongly drive on the right lane all the time. of course if satish is right, then honk your railway horn at the nincompoops and make it known that u r a potential road rager.

too bad pc, in those old days there were no discounts (100 bucks was like a clerks half month salary!) and the cops and courts treated all who appeared b4 them as stupid asses. times have changed and law enforcers nowadays are more wary that the people they meet almost always know more than they do. and if u argue sensibly in court, i think the judge wud tend to join the the fun of bashing the dumb cops cos they too are drivers affected by smart alecks wearing oversized boots.

Yes honking is one way to tell the other driver that s/he is doing the wrong thing. But the part that really gets on my nerves is they have the guts to honk back as if to tell you "hey, I pay road tax so I can do whatever I like"

I think all this stamps from lack of enforcement (we can forget about having good enforcement when we carry so much kopi or teh bags in our cars!!) and education.

It is a good start that the government, in a move to instill good driving manners, introduces the "P" plates. However, the implementation is left very much to be desired. In Australia, the law states that "P" platers can not break any traffic rules; and in addition they can not drive more than 80km/h (if the speed limit is higher that 80km/h) and on highways, they can not drive on the fast lane and they must give the right of way to other drivers first. Drivers who are not "P" platers must remove the "P" stickers from the car they drive or they can be fined. Drivers are afraid of the law in Australia. But in Malaysia, we see the exact opposite. "P" means get out of my way. "P" means I am right you are wrong. With drivers having this attitude, we will never be able to enjoy pleasant driving in Malaysia.

And we don't need lawyers to tell us what is legally correct or not on the road. All we need is civilised minds with good common sense.

    Cheers.

Illegal U Turn at USJ 4

This legal U Turn will be closed soon. Please see the reply from MPSJ councillor, Mr Yap Yun Fatt.

This junction will be closed this month. This is the reoson given by Mr Yap.

"Request from the residents of USJ4/2. They complained too many
vehicles using their road. They have gone all the way to MB.

As an alternative for vehicles going back to USJ3, we will make the U-turn at Tujuan/Murni junction legal."

However, I don't know when is the actual implementation date.

It is such a crying shame that trivial matters like putting up a "No U-Turn" sign has to go all the way up to the MB for action to be taken.

Makes one wonder how everything operate around us?

Why can't government departments make a real effort to listen to the Rakyat, instead of pushing problems around and away.

It's a load of genus bos dung, if you ask me.
