Pak Lah starts his messaging machinery...

Dr M is winding down. Pak Lah is getting ready to be the next PM.
As the country gears towards a general election that may happen sooner than 2004 - some say 2003 - a new message is being sent within BN, arising from the Penang MCA Duo issue.

BN leaders told to stop drama in politics

MACHANG Dec 20 - Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi today warned some Barisan Nasional leaders to stop their play-acting in politics and instead genuinely foster unity to ensure the success of the coalition.

The deputy prime minister said that the BN's political struggle could not succeed if its leaders and members indulged in the theatre, culture, drama, shadow play or the Mak Yong tactics which were only meant to entertain and mesmerise their audience.

"If unity takes the form of a drama, a life play and is only for show, the objective of the struggle will not be achieved and all efforts will be for naught," he said when opening the Kelantan BN convention here.

Abdullah, who is also the BN deputy chairman, said politics was not about actors acting out a role from a script where at the end of the play they discard their roles to pursue their respective dreams.

The political arena was a bigger theatre which touched on reality which could not be covered up with play-acting, make-up or beautiful dialogue, he said.

He said that if political leaders play-acted, then their supporters who were their audience could also feign their support.
